Despite rumors flying around town about the appearance of the new Dexter District Library construction being stalled, everything is right on track.

Library Director Paul McCann estimates that the building would be completed and ready for a large opening ceremony during "late fall."
"The roofs are on, the masonry is going on the outside, HVAC is installed on the inside and we're moving along pretty well," McCann said. "We'll be a little bit later than we anticipated, but not significantly."
He speculated that one of the reasons people are perceiving the project as stalled is due to the closure of the park on the east side of the Main Street Bridge.
"I think that anyone who went by in late May/early June and went by today would see tremendous progress on the site."
Project Manager Matt Ratzow, of Ann Arbor-based O'Neal Construction, said that much of the work has been going on in the structure's large basement, which isn't as visible to the public.
The next steps there are installing windows and drywall, before enclosing the exterior envelope of the building to keep the elements out and allow climate control for further construction of the building's interior.
