Dolphins dunk Racquet Club

The Ann Arbor Country Club defeated Racquet Club 466-249 last Monday and Tuesday.

Leading the way for the Dolphins in diving was Scott Crompton in the 15 and over boys' age group with a score of 147.52 points. Other notable performances were from Olivia Chippewa placing second for the 11-12 girls with 97.95 points, Cameron Sawyer placing second for the 13-14 boys with 120.90 points and Morgan Quist placing second for the 15 and over girls with 123.90 points.

In the lanes, the Dolphins stepped up to the blocks in dominating fashion. AACC won every medley relay event throughout all the age groups to open the meet.

The Dolphins continued to show their strength going 1-2 in the boys' 25 freestyle led by Nick Parros (16.09) and followed by Will Blodgett (20.41). The 8 and under girls went 1-2 in the 25 freestyle with Hannah Quist (19.34) leading the way followed by Brielle Chalou (22.10). Next came the 9-10 boys going 1-2 led by Alex Nevin (34.04), followed by Brenden Chalou (38.43). Allison Franz (30.94) took first for the 9-10 girls followed by Alyssa Sawyer (37.45) taking fifth.

The 11-12 boys finished in second through fifth places with Max Merriman (29.50) leading the way for the Dolphins and Joel Bischoff (33.34) pulling in a strong fifth-place finish.

Olivia Chippewa lead the way for the 11-12 girls in the 50 freestyle going 28.66, while Megan Lynch took third with a time of 33.57. Evan Bischoff parted the waters in the 50 freestyle going 25.04 to take the win for the 13-14 boys, while Matt Munzel took third with a 28.61. For the 13-14 girls, Bridget Morgan blazed to second place going 27.94, while Hailey Sheats took sixth going 29.24.

AACC 15 and over boys went 1-2-3 led by Taylor Verna (24.26), followed by Karl Kumbier (25.12) and Nick LeVeque (25.40). Lauren Daugherty (26.35) and Laura Steavenson (27.75) went 1-3 for the 15 and over girls.

The specialty stroke of the meet was butterfly which is one of the more difficult strokes to learn as a swimmer, but the AACC Dolphins continued their charge in commanding fashion. The 8 and under boys went 1-2-4-5 led by Dominick Van Ess (18.27), Nick Parros (19.74), Casey Dolen (22.62), and Robert Royce (23.78). Next came the 8 and under girls who took first through seventh place for the Dolphins. Carolyn Bischoff touched first going 18.08, followed by Sarah Zofchak (20.67), Melanie Dunnuck (21.56), Jordan Maisch (23.43), Maggie Schaefer (24.05), Willow Krupin (28.93), and Gabriola Levy (29.86).

The 9-10 boys furthered the point spread taking first through 10th place led by Robbie Zofchak (33.61), and followed close behind by Jimmy Morgan (34.46), and Joey Costello (37.10). AACC 9-10 girls went 1-2 in the 50 butterfly with Reagan Maisch taking first with a 35.68 and Sarah Lynch going 36.57. Evan Faletti (29.40) and Jonathan Zofchak (29.88) went 1-2 for the 11-12 boys followed by Colleen Stabler (31.93), Emalie Taylor (32.96) and Abigail Mesaros (33.41) taking 1-3-4 for the girls.

The 13-14 boys went 2-3-4-5-6 led by Kyle Franz (28.90) and followed by Mark Brown (29.15), Brennan Maisch (32.57), Joe Wendorf (32.68), and Matt Munzel (33.46). Lisa Crompton placed second for the 13-14 girls with a 29.51. In the 15 and over age group, Liam Donevan and Jesse Claflin went 2-3 respectively, while Jenna Faletti (29.91), Paige Garwood (30.44), and Morgan Quist (31.41) lead the way for the girls with a 1-2-4 finish.

Ann Arbor Country Club closed the meet as they opened with wins in all freestyle relays across the age groups to post the win.
