OBITUARIES

PUBLISHED: July 3, 2008

Lowell Gleason

Milan

Lowell Gleason of Milan and formerly of Dexter died June 25, 2008 from bone marrow cancer. He was 62.

He was the beloved only brother of Valorie Gleason of Milan, Lee Ann Lofgren of Camden, and Eloise Knight of Fowlerville. He retired from the University of Michigan and hoped to enjoy many more years to travel, golf, paint and ride his precious Harley motorcycle.

Lowell shared many adventures with Gary, John, Doug, Tim, and Carl and other special friends who were close to his heart. He loved to laugh and have fun and he lived life to its fullest. We encourage those who knew him to tell tall tales and outrageous stories about him and remember all the good times.

Cremation has taken place. Lowell's ashes will be interred at Marble Park Cemetery in Milan, next to his parents. The family will host a celebration of his life in late July. Special thanks to his brother-in-law, Thomas Knight for all his love and support. Farewell Brother. We love and miss you.

Arrangements entrusted to Ochalek-Stark Funeral Service, Milan. www.ochalekstark.com.

Frances "Fran" Zatorski

Chelsea

Frances "Fran" Zatorski of Chelsea died Friday, June 27, 2008 in Ann Arbor. Fran was born in 1939 to Sidney and Marion (Gans) Given in Brattleboro, Vt. and raised in Northfield, Mass. She was 68.

She worked part time starting at the age of 11 (it was allowed way back then) and retired in 2007.

In 1959 she married David Carstens and moved to Michigan. In 1977 she married Ronald Zatorski at which time she moved to and fell in love with Chelsea. She served as the clerk for the Village Planning Commission, Village Clerk from 1999 through 2001, and clerk for the City Charter Commission.

Fran served on the Board of Directors for the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce for six years and was a charter member of their Ambassador Group, as a member of the CATS Board , and for a short time as the secretary of the Chelsea Chapter of AARP.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Edmund and Gladys (Theil) Zatorski; a brother Sidney Given; a sister, Barbara Levasseur; and brother-in-laws, Donald Levasseur and Edmund Zatorski, Jr.

One of her favorite sayings was: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride."

We'll miss her, but don't be sad... smile at the fact that you knew her!

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 2, from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea. A private burial will take place at Oak Grove East Cemetery, Chelsea.
