George and Ella May (Alber) Smith of Ann Arbor celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 19. A mass was said in honor of the couple on June 19 at St. Mary Church in Chelsea followed by a gathering hosted by members of the church. On June 29 they also celebrated with family.

Their children are Ann Tarrier of Ann Arbor, Joe of Chelsea, Vern of Saline, Al of Ann Arbor, Joanne Rogucki of Pinckney, Dan of Ann Arbor, Betty Raab of Ann Arbor, Pat of Ann Arbor, Russ of Howell and Jim of Braux Bridge, La. They have 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
George retired from Smith Village Insurance in 1985.
