Mustangs clinch title

The Dexter Mustangs U-11 girls' soccer team clinched its second Western Suburban Soccer League championship in the last three years earlier this month. The Mustangs finished unbeaten in league play with a 5-0-3 overall record.

To earn the league title, Dexter defeated the Plymouth Reign 1-0. Scoring the game-winning goal was Nicole Janosi. Picking up an assist on the play for the Mustangs was Sara Muchmore.
Recording the shutout in net for Dexter was keeper August Bishop.
Anchoring the defense in front of Bishop for the Mustangs was Meghan Luoma.
Prior to its victory over Plymouth, Dexter tied the Soccer Blast Crush 2-2.
Leading the Mustangs against the Crush were Crystal Kedroske, Katerina Kerska and Muchmore.
A large part of Dexter's success this season has been its defense. Key members of the stop corps for the Mustangs this year include Jenny Squire, Elise Dombkowski, Erin Schroeder, Alex Ammann, Casey Orr, Josie Dusack, Luoma and Kerska.
At the Canton Cup last month, Dexter finished 2-1 overall in the tournament. The Mustangs defeated Hartland and Farmington. Dexter lost to the eventual Canton Cup overall champion St. Clair Shores Spitfires 1-0.
Scoring for Dexter during the tournament was Julien Griffith with three goals and Kedroske and Janosi who each had one goal for the Mustangs.
