Celebrating Senior Night, the Dreadnaughts (12-2-2, 8-2-2 Southeastern Conference) played the Indians under the lights at Al Ritt Field.
"It was an exciting atmosphere," said Dexter coach Scott Forrester.
In fitting fashion, all five Dexter goals against Tecumseh were scored by seniors.
To begin the game, Dreadnaught senior Katie Marsh scored 23 minutes into the first half, giving Dexter an early 1-0 lead. Picking up an assist on the play for the Dreadnaughts was junior Brittany Walls.
With eight minutes left in the first half, senior Celia Kuzon scored off an assist from Marsh upping Dexter's advantage to 2-0 as the two teams entered the break.
Twelve minutes into the second half, Marsh, who'll play next season for Eastern Michigan University, scored for a 3-0 Dreadnaught advantage. Walls added her second assist of the day on the goal.
With 13 minutes remaining on the second half clock, senior Erica LeBlanc beat the Railsplitter keeper for a 4-0 Dexter lead. Junior Chelsea Low recorded an assist on the goal for the Dreadnaughts.
Senior Caitlin Henderson, who'll suit up for Western Michigan University next year, ended the scoring late in the second half with a goal from 35 yards away. LeBlanc assisted on the play for Dexter.
"We looked good tonight despite the distractions and a feisty Lincoln team," said Dexter coach Scott Forrester. "With the long weekend, we will start our state playoff run fresh and hungry."
The Dreadnaughts, ranked No. 8 in the state in Division 2, have reached the state semifinals the past two seasons before bowing out.
"This team has an ability to have numerous looks based on the options we have in moving players around in different positions," Forrester said. "(Dearborn Heights) Crestwood should come out of the first round game and be our district second round opponent. It will be a very good game to be a part of."
Dexter, unbeaten in its last eight games, is hosting the Division 2 state district. The Dreadnaughts face the winner of Allen Park-Crestwood in the district semifinal Thursday at 5 p.m.
The district final is Saturday at noon.
Other teams competing in the district include Ypsilanti, Livonia Ladywood, Dearborn Divine Child and Melvindale.
On May 20, the visiting Dreadnaughts defeated Adrian 6-0.
"We put a lot of balls on frame, but didn't finish," Forrester said. "Creating these opportunities was fun to watch, but finishing them was frustrating.
"Our defense did well not to let their guard down. These types of games can be dangerous if not taken seriously. The team did well to approach it like professionals."
Five minutes into the first half, Low converted a pass from Marsh for a goal and a 1-0 Dexter lead.
In the second half, Walls scored giving the Dreads a 2-0 advantage with 22 minutes remaining in the game. Marsh picked up an assist.
After Walls' goal, the proverbial floodgates opened for the Maples.
Two minutes after Walls' score, sophomore Kristi Hughes found the back of the net for a 3-0 Dexter margin.
Two minutes later, Marsh scored upping the Dreadnaughts' lead to a commanding 4-0. LeBlanc assisted on the play for Dexter.
Walls scored her second goal of the game a few minutes later for a 5-0 lead. Marsh recorded an assist.
Marsh ended the scoring with a goal off a pass from Walls for the day's final outcome.
