Choices abound on primary ballot

The nominating petitions are in so the race is on, and voters in this area will have many choices on the Aug. 8 primary election ballot.

Several incumbents chose not to run for re-election. Incumbents and those running unopposed are not listed.
Here is a rundown of the names for contested races you'll see on the ballot, starting with national representation and working down to township government. R designates Republican, D designates Democrat, I designates the incumbent.
