Dreads and Rails split

Dexter track and field hosted perennial Southeastern Conference White Division rival Ypsilanti Lincoln May 6 in a dual meet.

In the boys' meet, the Dreadnaughts defeated the Railsplitters 80-57.
In the high jump, Ryan Kantola placed first with a height of 5-feet, 10 inches. Kevin Novak was second with a mark of 5-8.
In pole vault, Dexter swept the top three places. Nick Butler finished first clearing 13-0, while Steve Ferguson was second reaching 12-6 and John Oliver third with a height of 11-0.
Kantola was third in the long jump with a measurement of 19-8.
Michael Schultz placed first in the shot put with a throw of 44-3, while Adam Cares was second with a heave of 40-6. Schultz was also first in the discus with a toss of 118-9.
In the 110-meter hurdles, Butler was second with a time of 15.9. In the 300-meter hurdles, Butler was first in 42.3.
Ross Seagram broke the tape first in the 100 meters, while Cares was third for Dexter. In the 200 meters, Seagram was second in 23.4, while Cares was third in 24.2.
Mike Swantek was second in the 400-meter run with a time of 55.1 for the Dreadnaughts.
Alex Hess crossed the line first in the 800-meter run in 2:01.3, while Zach Hannah was third in 2:13.1 for Dexter.
The Dreadnaughts finished 1-2-3 in the 1,600-meter run as Ken Metz placed first in 4:43.3, followed by Bobby Aprill in second in 4:43.8 and Ian Nystrom third in 4:53.8.
Ben Carruthers placed first in the 3,200-meter run with a clocking of 10:10.3, while Ben Steavenson was second in 10:10.6 for Dexter.
In the girls' meet, the Dreadnaughts lost 83.5-53.5.
Nyki Caldwell finished first for Dexter in the high jump reaching a height of 4-10. Sherri Gamble was third with a mark of 4-8.
Becca Pilkerton was third in the long jump with a leap of 13-11.
The Dreadnaughts swept the pole vault, with Pilkerton finishing first clearing 11-0. Janelle Heldt was second with a height of 9-0, while Ria Brundage was third also with a 9-0.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Gamble was third with a clocking of 18.1.
Pilkerton broke the tape first in the 300-meter hurdles in 50.5.
Mari Couasnon was third in the 200 meters for Dexter with a time of 27.6.
Couasnon was third in the 400-meter run in 1:02.5.
The Dreadnaughts swept the top three spots in the 800-meter run. Abby Hess finished first in 2:40.3, while Kristen Yarows was second in 2:41.6 and Caci Dishman third in 2:46.5.
Yarows bested the field in the 1,600-meter run placing first with a time of 5:44.9, while Dishman was second in 5:55.1.
Ellen Riehle was first in the 3,200-meter run with a clocking of 12:55.2, while Jamila Odeh was second in 13:12.7.
Dexter next travels to Livonia Ladywood to compete in the Division 2 state regional meet Friday at 10 a.m.
On Wednesday, the Dreadnaughts visit Ypsilanti Lincoln to participate in the SEC meet at 3 p.m.
