Alex Ammann got the season's first goal against the Saline Swarm on a nice cross from Crystal Kedroske. Later Julien Griffith scored to put the game away 2-1.
The Mustang's second game was against the Heartland Heatwave. Nicole Janosi used nice touches to score three quick goals before retiring in net to preserve the win. Later Elise Dombkowski used her speed to set up August Bishop who scored to make the final 4 -1.
In the next match, the Rush Downriver squad played a tough match but could not get many chances past the Mustangs' stingy defense. The back line of Meghan Luoma, Katerina Kerska, Jenny Squire and Kedroske has been solid all year supporting the stingy goaltending of Sara Muchmore, Bishop and Janosi. Casey Orr had a strong game in midfield. The Mustangs prevailed 2-1.
A determined Huron Valley team gave the Mustangs a physical match on their home field. Trailing 1-0, the Mustangs got a big boost from Muchmore's highlight reel goal dribbling 50 yards around three defenders, pulling the keeper out, and then calmly tucking the ball behind the diving keeper into the empty net. As a result of relentless pressure, Josie Dusack scored two nice goals for Dexter. Julien Griffith, Kerska and Kedroske passed the ball well for the Mustangs helping the local club win 3 -2.
Last weekend, Muchmore continued her fine play scoring two goals in a 2-2 tie with the Northville Rush. Kedroske controlled the midfield while Erin Schroeder broke up many attacks with her hustle. Meghan Luoma and Squire had strong efforts on defense.
