Dexter names Notable 'Naughts

Dexter track and field announced its Notable 'Naughts last week. The award goes to athletes for effort, attitude, performance and determination.

Larry Gunderson received the honor for setting a personal best in the pole vault with a mark of 13-feet at last week's Mason Invitational.
Catherine Bergren earned the award for setting a personal best in the pole vault clearing 6-6.
Dan Jackson was honored for finishing first in the 3,200-meter run in 8:59.9 at the Darby Distance Classic in Ohio last week.
Peter Burgett received the award for his versatility racing anywhere from the 100 meters to the 400-meter run.
"He also is among the top long jumper for the Dreadnaughts," said Dexter coach Chris Hanlon.
Amanda Delhey was named a Notable 'Naught for her season-best 3:06.42 in the 800-meter run at the Mason invite.
"She has shown great leadership for the distance girls," Hanlon said.
Emily Klinkman was honored for her overall attitude.
"Emily ran her best 1,600-meters of the season at Mason," Hanlon said. "She has displayed a positive attitude that is helpful during the hard work of this point in the season."
Kyle Cook was honored for throwing a personal best in the discus despite difficult weather conditions last week.
Nathan Keppler registered personal bests in the shot put and discus at the Holly Freshman-Sophomore Relays.
Kendal Chappell received the award for her performance in the high jump.
"Kendal is improving rapidly in the high jump," Hanlon said. "She matched a PR (personal record) with a meteoric jump at 4-6 and then had several great attempts at 4-8."
Ashley Blackburn was recognized for her overall effort and team-first attitude.
"Ashley took a 400-meter leg of a relay for an injured teammate at the Saline JV meet and ran an excellent split of 1:11," Hanlon said. "She was willing to fill in again at Holly in this longest of sprints for a teammate who was competing in the high jump."
Emily Hattie was honored for her 10-foot improvement in the discus last week.
Nick Butler earned the award for his 12-6 in the pole vault at the Mansfield Mehock Relays in Ohio.
John Oliver was named a Notable 'Naught for inching closer to the freshman class record with an 11-0 in the pole vault last week.
Janet Zalucha ran a 2:50 800-meter leg in the 3,200-meter relay against rival Chelsea to earn the award.
Jessie Vickers received the award for her overall performance against Chelsea last week.
Jamila Odeh was recognized for her effort in the 3,200-meter run.
George Berger was honored for breaking his personal record in the 3,200-meter run by 16 seconds last week.
Ben Carruthers cut 41 seconds off of his previous best time in the 3,200-meter run to be named a Notable 'Naught.
Matt Klein received the award for his work in the high jump at the Holly Freshman-Sophomore Relays, clearing 5-10.
Justin Wensel and Alisha Shoner both earned the award for their efforts and dedication in hurdles.
