The Dreadnaughts ended up with 12 points.
Winning the eight-team tournament was Salem with 20 points. Plymouth was second with 18 points.
Leading Dexter was the No. 1 doubles duo of Angelo Quail and Ryan Kuhns who placed third, winning matches 6-4, 6-2 and 6-3, 7-5.
Also finishing third was the Dreadnaught No. 3 doubles twosome of Sean Killian and Charlie Kemp who won their matches 6-1, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-3.
At No. 4 doubles, Dexter's John Crist and Scott Repine won two matches 6-2, 6-2 and 7-6(4), 6-4.
In singles play, Dreadnaught Robert Partarrieu prevailed in two matches 6-0, 6-0 and 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 3 flight.
"I was very happy with how well our doubles teams played at the Monroe tournament," said Dexter coach Mike Dziama. "We took seven out of a possible 12 points in our doubles flights. It was the reason we finished tied for third place as a team."
Dziama also praised the play of Partarrieu.
"He had a tough first match against the eventual winning team losing in two close sets 6-4, 6-3, but he came right back to win his last two matches in convincing fashion."
Last Friday, host Dexter (1-2) blanked Jackson Northwest 8-0 in a dual match.
In singles, the Dreadnaughts won by default at the No. 1 flight.
At No. 2 singles, Dexter's Frank Dufek defeated Nick Lewis 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 3 singles, the Dreadnaughts won by default.
Dexter's Kyle Debruycker beat Kai Aberegg 6-4, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
In doubles play, Quail and Kuhns prevailed over Brad Bachman and Daniel Bailey 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 flight.
At No. 2 doubles, Dreadnaughts Andrew DeZeeuw and Mark Anderson won 6-1, 6-2 over Justin Petty and Will Howell.
At No. 3 doubles, Kemp and Killian defeated Jerrod Bohner and Wesley Knauf 6-0, 6-0.
Dexter's Chad Bousley and Matt Scarpelli beat Travis McClear and Tra'voun Edgerson 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 doubles.
"Jackson Northwest came in shorthanded and did not have a full squad, so they had to forfeit two matches right away," Dziama said. "It was great to get our first win of the season. Hopefully this will give us momentum going into next week."
The Dreadnaughts next host Saline Thursday at 4 p.m.
On Friday, Dexter hosts Temperance Bedford at 4 p.m. in a make-up match that was earlier rained out.
On Monday, the Dreadnaughts travel to Brooklyn Columbia Central for a match at 4 p.m.
On Tuesday, Dexter hosts Ypsilanti Lincoln at 4 p.m.
