Dreads fall to Maples

Dexter's women's tennis team lost to host Adrian 7-1 last Monday.

In singles, Dreadnaught Jenna Kolakowski lost to Kristin Vallade 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 flight.

At No. 2 singles, Dexter's Bekah Williamson lost to Caiti Bolick 6-2, 6-1.

At No. 3 singles, Lauren Gardner lost to Maple Lindy Coon 6-1, 6-1.

Dreadnaught Lindsay Franson lost to Melissa Foor 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.

In doubles play, the Dexter twosome of Kelsey Lau and Lisa Ritchie lost to Shelly Chesher and Alexis Ringman 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 1 flight.

At No. 2 doubles, Mandy Atkinson and Laura Kemp lost to Adrian's Jessica McNeil and Allison Meyer 6-2, 6-2.

At No. 3 doubles, the Dreadnaught combo of Caroline Buckley and Erin McAweeney defeated Allyssa Battersby and Lexie Frank in three sets 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Dexter's Emily Magayer and Katie Frauhammer lost 6-2, 6-3 to Sarah Agnew and Nicole Bearden at No. 4 doubles.

Last Saturday, the Dreadnaughts participated in the Brooklyn Columbia Central Invitational. Dexter placed third overall with 11 points.

At No. 1 singles, Kolakowski placed second with a 2-1 overall record on the day.

Ritchie was second at No. 2 singles, while Gardner was fourth at No. 3 singles.

At No. 4 singles, Franson finished first for the Dreadnaughts ending up with a perfect 3-0 record.

In doubles, Williamson and Lau finished 1-1 at the No. 1 flight for Dexter.

At No. 2 doubles, Kemp and Atkinson were 1-2, while McAweeny and Buckley placed second overall at No. 3 doubles with a 2-1 record.

At No. 4 doubles, Frauhammer and Magayer ended up 1-2 on the day.

Last Thursday, the host Dreadnaughts defeated Riverview 5-3 for their first victory of the season.

In singles, Kolakowski prevailed beating Ashley Powers 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 1 flight.

At No. 2 singles, Ritchie won 6-3, 6-2 over Nicole Karaboyar.

At No. 3 singles, Gardner defeated Kelli Windle 7-5, 6-0. At No. 4 singles, Franson won 6-1, 6-2 over Tara McKee.

In doubles, Lau and Williamson lost 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 1 flight. At No. 2 doubles, Dreadnaught Amanda Eberbach and Kayla Garant lost 6-1, 6-3.

At No. 3 doubles, McAweeny and Buckley won 7-5, 6-3. At No. 4 doubles, Magayer and Frauhammer lost 6-3, 6-2.

On April 23, visiting Dexter lost to Temperance Bedford 6-2.

Picking up wins for the Dreadnaughts were Gardner at No. 3 singles and Franson at No. 4 singles.

Dexter next travels to Brooklyn Columbia Central for a match Friday at 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Dreadnaughts visit Howell to compete in its invitational at 10 a.m.

On Monday, Dexter travels to Ypsilanti Lincoln for a contest at 4:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Dreadnaughts host Ann Arbor Huron at 4:30 p.m.
