Clare A. Knickerbocker

Clare A. Knickerbocker of Chelsea died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. He was 78.
He was born Oct. 5, 1929 in Chelsea, the son of Maynard Laverne and Ethel (Kennedy) Knickerbocker.
Clare held many offices in the Manchester United Methodist Church, where he also designed and built the stained glass windows for the sanctuary. Clare was a proud Mason, holding offices of Past Master, Past High Priest Royal Arch, Past Patron of OES, Past Associate Bethel Guardian of Jobís Daughters. Mr. Knickerbocker worked at Chelsea Chrysler Proving Grounds for 36 years, retiring in 1991. Clare served his country in the US Army from 1950-1952.
He married Beverly Tilford in Detroit, on May 8, 1954, and she preceded him in death on April 2, 2001. Survivors include daughters, COL Deborah Knickerbocker of Arlington, Va., Pamela Knickerbocker of South Lyon, Sandra (Martin) Haas of Dexter, and Lisa (Kevin) Jarema of Milan; 2 brothers, David H. (Carole) and Alfred B. (Deanna) both of CA; 1 sister, Dorothy A. Collins of Virginia Beach, Va.; 2 grandchildren, Joshua Clare & Katherine Lyn Jarema; special family friend, Linda McCrea; many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Harvey, George, Ray, and Stanley.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 26 at the Manchester United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Oak Grove East Cemetery, Chelsea.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or the United Methodist Church of Manchester for care and maintenance of the stained glass windows.
Dorothy L. Lentz
Chelsea
Dorothy L. Lentz of Chelsea passed away at the Arbor Hospice residence in Ann Arbor on April 26, 2008. She was 94.
She was born the daughter of Eli and Dora (Grodi) Stark on June 15, 1913 in Ida, Mich. On Nov. 12, 1938 in Ida she married Carl Frederick Lentz and he preceded her in death in 1992. Dorothy lived in the same house for 70 years and she enjoyed bowling, was a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary where she was a past Secretary, and she was a member of the Altar Society at St. Mary.
Most of all she was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Dorothy is survived by her children Helen (J. Edward) Kain of Surprise, Ariz. and Nadine Koch of Chelsea along with her grandchildren: Heather (Jim) Horn, Joe (Donna) Kain, Todd (Holly) Koch, Jeanette (Patrick) Koch-Irish, Julie (Gregg) Stotler, and Jill (Chuck) Kovick as well as 14 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters Agnes Jacobs of Monroe, Gladys (Harry) Stubleski of Temperance and her brother Lucien Stark of Temperance. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her 13 brothers and sisters.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at St Mary Catholic church on April 30 with the Rev. Dr. William J. Turner and Fr. Joseph Rinaldo con-celebrating. Expression of sympathy may be made to the St. Louis Center and the Arbor Hospice Foundation.
Dale A. Bailey
Chelsea
Dale A. Bailey of Chelsea passed away at the Chelsea Community Hospital on April 25, 2007. He was 80.
Mr. Bailey was born the son of Albert and Anna Bailey, on Jan. 10, 1928 in Cone, Mich. On May 12, 1951 in Chelsea, he married Bea Fletcher and she survives.
Mr. Bailey loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating and snowmobiling and was a past board member of the Chelsea Rod and Gun Club. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a member of the Herbert McKune American Legion Post in Chelsea. He was always around to help anyone that needed it and always made time for his granddaughter, never missing any of her activities.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Bailey is survived by his daughter Jacquie Daniels of Chelsea, granddaughter Darcie Daniels of Ypsilanti; and special friends Ron and Pam Kiel, Merritt and Arlene Honbaum, Wendell Kruse, and Gus Hansen. He was preceded in death by son-in-law Mike Daniels, and adoptive parents Fred and Elizabeth Wheeler.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 29 from the Staffan-Mitchell funeral home with Rev. Kathy Schell officiating. Expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of ones choice.
Massoud Massoudi
Dexter
Massoud Massoudi of Dexter passed away on April 23, 2008 in Ann Arbor. He was 62.
He was born in Brujerd, Iran on July 21, 1945. Massoud graduated from the University of Tehran with a degree in business. He came to the U.S. in 1975 to study.
He received two masters degrees, in economics and industrial operations from Western Michigan University. For the past 21 years he worked as a computer analyst for the federal government. He loved music, the outdoors, poetry and life.
On Aug. 25, 1979, Massoud married his loving wife of 29 years in Sturgis, Mich. He was the devoted father of two children.
Massoud is survived by his wife Donna, children Christie and Mehdi, parents Ezat Fouladi and Mehdi Massoudi, brother Saied, sisters Nahid, Farideh and Roya, and many nieces and nephews.
The family received friends on Tuesday, April 29 with a Life Celebration Service to follow from Nie Family Funeral Home in Ann Arbor.
