Angels spell A's in Little League action

Dexter's Little League Minor Division opened its season last week. Here are the results:

April 21-

Angels 9, A's 5-Jack Derloshon paced the A's with two hits, while Ben Spuller, Paul Keenan, Travis Spuller, Matt Sinelli and Peter Baker each had one hit. On the mound, Adam Sikorski pitched well for the A's, throwing three scoreless innings.

Indians 13, Rangers 3-Brian Condron pitched three shut out innings for the Indians, while Tommy Finn closed out the game for the Tribe.

Devil Rays 15, Blue Jays 5-Hunter Edwards, Lance Schubert, Jared Juback, Joey Ernst, Ted Walton and Brittany Schlacht each scored twice for the Devil Rays. As a team, the Devil Rays had 11 stolen bases, with Tommy McWilliams leading the way with three. At the plate, David Merz finished 1-for-2, while Lucas Bottomley scored one run and Benjamin Keehn had two walks for the Devil Rays.

On the hill, Jason Verbal allowed one run, with five strikeouts and no walks earning the win. Trevor Hilobuk struck out the side in his one inning of work, while Ted Walton closed out the contest with four strikeouts.

White Sox 10, Red Sox 2-Noah Mellifont had two hits, including a three-run home run for the White Sox. Graham Hook also had two hits, while Michael Martinez and Alex Vencil each had one hit for the White Sox.

Orioles 15, Tigers 9-Cameron Milne scored three runs and pitched one shut out inning to lead the Orioles. Michael DeZeeuw added two hits, while Brenden Ritter, Andrew Pek, Graham Northrup, Stephen Robards, Kyle DeVoogd and Justin Carlson each had one hit for the Orioles. On the rubber, Blake Leonard, Spencer Paulissen and Graham Northrup each pitched out of a bases loaded jam to help spark the Orioles.

April 19-

White Sox 13, A's 4-Noah Mellifont led the White Sox with two hits, including a grand slam home run. Graham Hook added two hits, while Connor Harmon, Jonathan LeBlanc and Michael Martinez each had one hit for the White Sox. Pitchers Graham Hook, Jonathan LeBlanc, Andrew Diehl and Noah Mellifont combined to give up four runs in five innings to earn the victory.

Peter Baker paced the A's reaching base three times and scoring three runs. Jack Derloshon reached base twice. Pitcher Nick Winston recorded four strikeouts in two innings work for the A's.

Blue Jays 14, Indians 7-Alex Snow, Tommy Finn, Brian Condron and Jack Donevan each swatted two hits to lead the Indians.

April 18-

Red Sox 9, Orioles 8-The Red Sox scored seven runs in the third inning to earn their victory. Kyle Koenig pitched three scoreless innings with eight strikeouts for the Red Sox. Tony Seidl added three strikeouts in one and one-third innings work, while Vince Esposito pitched two-thirds of an inning fanning one. Tony Seidl and Brendon Chalou each scored twice for the Red Sox. Bryan Duclos, Aaron Kelley, Kyle Koenig, Caleb Endicott and Caden Koenig each scored one run for the Red Sox.

For the Orioles, Spencer Paulissen had a three-run RBI single, while Andrew Pek had a two-run RBI triple. Michael DeZeeuw finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs, while Cameron Milne had a single and scored two runs. Blake Leonard, Von Heath and Michael DeZeeuw each pitched one scoreless inning for the O's.

Devil Rays 1, Rangers 0-Jared Juback connected for an RBI double scoring Joey Ernst for the game's only run in the second inning. Ernst had doubled prior to Juback's game-winning hit. Tommy McWilliams, Ted Walton, Joey Ernst and Jared Juback each stole one base for the Devil Rays.

On the mound, Jason Verbal struckout four and allowed one hit in two innings for the Devil Rays. Trevor Hilobuk pitched one inning with two strikeouts, while Ted Walton closed out the win tossing the final three innings for the Rays, fanning eight, with one walk and one hit.

Playing well defensively for the Devil Rays were Lucas Bottomley, Lance Schubert, Hunter Edwards, Benjamin Keehn and David Merz.

Angels 12, Tigers 8-Nick Rodriguez pitched two and one-third innings allowing one run and fanning six for the Tigers. Offensively, Josh Ballard hit a three-run, bases-loaded RBI double for the Tigers.
