Sarah Christian began the scoring for the Dreadnaughts (5-1-1, 2-0 Southeastern Conference), beating the Indian goalie off a pass from Caitlin Henderson one minute into the game.

Seven minutes later, Shantal Daratony increased Dexter's lead to 2-0 scoring off an assist from Katie Marsh.

To end the first half, Daratony scored her second goal of the game upping the Dread advantage to 3-0 entering the break.

Early in the second half, Henderson scored for a 4-0 Dexter lead. Meghan Dinser picked up an assist on the play for the Dreadnaughts.

Thirty seconds later, Christian scored off an assist from Amanda Marsh.

Late in the game, Christian scored her third goal of the day for a hat trick for the contest's final margin. Daratony recorded an assist on the goal for Dexter.

Earning the shutout in net for the Dreadnaughts was keeper Liz Umstead. The goose egg was Umstead's fifth of the season.

Dexter coach Scott Forrester said his squad is playing well at both ends of the field.

"This team's ability to play on both sides of the ball will be of great concern to future opposition," he said.

The Dreadnaughts' defense has been stingy this season posting five shutouts and allowing only two goals in seven games.

"On the other side of the ball, our offense doesn't allow the opponents much possession of the ball as we keep it from them," Forrester said.

On April 17, visiting Dexter blanked Ypsilanti Lincoln 7-0.

Brittany Walls, Magaly Cantu and Henderson led the Dreadnaughts each scoring two goals.

Amanda Marsh notched Dexter final goal.

Picking up assists in the contest for the Dreads were Amanda Marsh, with two, Ericka LeBlanc, Krystyna Taheri and Henderson.

Umstead recorded the shutout in net for Dexter.

"Today we witnessed a Dreadnaught team that showed its ability to spread the scoring around," Forrester said.

On April 4, visiting Dexter defeated Dearborn 2-0.

Amanda Marsh and Henderson scored goals for the Dreadnaughts.

Umstead earned the win in net.

Also playing well were defenders Caitlin Rize, Taylor Conter, Remme Cortright and Taheri.

"The players faced a tremendous challenge facing an opponent that they didn't know much about and the raw elements of Michigan weather, driven snow with freezing temperatures," Forrester said. "Credit the players with finding a way to win."

Dexter next travels to Chelsea Thursday for a game at 5:30 p.m. The game against the Bulldogs will be the first meeting between the two rivals since last year's epic double overtime state district final in which the Dreadnaughts won. Dexter would go on to the Division II state semifinals before losing.

On Tuesday, the Dreadnaughts host Ann Arbor Huron at 5:30 p.m.
