Have you ever wondered if the family antiques are worth anything? There's a quick way to find out.
May 3 is the Heritage Guild's spring appraisal clinic. DuMouchelles, certified Auctioneers and Estate Appraisers from Detroit, will be at the Dexter Area Museum, 3443 Inverness Street from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to conduct appraisals of hand-carried items.
A donation of $5 is asked for each item appraised at under $1,000 and a $12 donation for items $1,000 or more. Appointments are recommended and may be made by calling 734-426-2091.
Lions White Cane Week
The annual Lions White Cane Week benefits the 18,000 blind folks in the state each year. The event helps purchase and car for leader dogs.
Members will be selling miniature White Canes between April 25 and May 3 on corners and in front of stores.
White Cane Week is a result of the passage of the White Cane Law in Michigan.
Lions Clubs also fund eye exams and eyeglasses for the vision impaired, as well as supporting Welcome Home for the Blind, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Michigan Eye Bank and Transportation Center, and other community service projects.
