The honor is given to those athletes who display hard work, grit, exceptional performance and team spirit.
This week's Notable 'Naughts include seniors Jenna Carmody and Jacqueline McNally, sophomores Colin McNally, Kyle Hamilton and Abby Hess and freshmen Candice Wiesner, Cole Burgess, Steve Ferguson and Louisa Wolcott.
Jacqueline McNally was honored for her overall team attitude.
"Jacqueline has shown tremendous senior leadership for the younger hurdlers and long jumpers on the team," said Dexter coach Chris Hanlon.
The spotlight was put on Carmody for her top-flight performance this season.
"Jenna is really peaking in her senior season," Hanlon said. "She is racing great and has an excellent work ethic that shows her off-season preparation."
Colin McNally earned the award by showing grit by overcoming injury.
"Colin has recovered from an off-track injury and is reaping the benefits of his excellent training during the deep, cold days of winter," Hanlon said.
Hamilton was honored for his hard work and effort.
"Kyle has started out the season in great shape after a dedicated off-season in the weight room," Hanlon said.
Hess received a Notable 'Naught nod for her recent performance on the track.
"Abby raced well in the (Ann Arbor) Huron meet (to begin season) and has been a workout leader for the girls' distance runners," Hanlon said.
Wiesner earned the team honor for her overall attitude and effort.
"Candice has a positive attitude towards the hard work involved in track and field," Hanlon said. "She was especially positive during the famous slush run during spring break."
Burgess and Ferguson were both cited for their outstanding work in pole vault.
"These two freshmen vaulters are starting the season out in great fashion," Hanlon said. "Both are well over their eighth-grade PRs (personal records) and are in range of the freshman class record of 11-feet, 1-inch."
Wolcott received the honor for her perseverance.
"Louisa showed dedication and an ability to fight frost bite by working hard during all the blustery spring break workouts," Hanlon said.
Dexter next hosts county rival Chelsea Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
