"We have gotten off to a great start so far this season," said Dexter coach Rebecca Godek. "The varsity came out with a win and the JV a tie in our first dual game, giving us a jump start mentally with some confidence."

Godek said Dexter played well at the Early Bird invite.

"We had a very competitive weekend," she said. "We played very well as a team. We knew going into the weekend that we would be facing four tough teams, all of which had advanced to the state tournament last season. Our goal was just to have fun and see what we could bring to the table after less than two weeks of practicing.

"We came out of the weekend 1-3, which I have no complaints about. The girls showed me from this tournament the potential we have and the depth that this varsity squad has. I was overly impressed with each player that went in the water and performed, so to me, the weekend was nothing but a success."

Dexter next hosts Okemos Thursday at 7 p.m.
