Bernice Harvey Stone, formerly of Chelsea, died Sunday, April 15, 2007 at the Gilbert Residence in Ypsilanti. She was 79.
She was born Dec. 17, 1927 in Waterloo Township on the farm of her grandfather, Herbert Harvey. She was the daughter of Millard Harvey and Marguerite (Widmayer) Harvey Miley.
Mrs. Stone had lived in Chelsea since 1979, moving from Dexter. She graduated from Dexter High School in 1945 and attended Michigan State University for one year. She was employed by the Ann Arbor Bank (now National City), Mercywood Hospital, and retired from K-Mart in Maple Village, Ann Arbor. She was a life member of Washtenaw County OES Chapter #302 & Past Matron of Dexter OES. She was also a member of Women of the Moose #890 in Ann Arbor and Dexter Twirlers Square Dancers. She loved to play bingo & travel.
She married John Stone on Oct. 18, 1947. They celebrated their 40th anniversary before Mr. Stone passed on Jan. 7, 1988. Survivors include her three children, Robert of New Boston, Susan (Peter) Rantz of Saline, and Jeffery of Florida; three grandchildren, Jeffery Stone of Tennessee, Rene Brown and Brian Stone of Jackson; six great-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 18, at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with Rev. Father David Harvey officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery, Chelsea.
