Mill Creek Bridge Replacement

Schedule: April to November
Description: The Main Street Bridge over Mill Creek will be fully removed and replaced. The existing dam also will be removed and a park will be created where Mill Pond currently exists. Additional bridge enhancements are proposed with decorative lighting and sidewalk extending across the bridge. The WCRC will maintain two-way traffic on the bridge through the duration of the project.
Downtown Enhancements
Schedule: April to October; Jeffords Street road closure May to October
Description: The project includes the reconstruction of Jeffords, Forest, and Broad streets, fully removing and replacing existing pavement, relocating water mains and installing storm sewer. The existing alley from Jeffords to Broad will be removed and replaced. Construction involves a new streetscape, including sidewalks, street lighting, and parking.
Third Street Improvements
Schedule: April to May
Description: Third Street between Inverness Street and the southwest end of Third Street will be rebuilt. Along this portion of the roadway, a new cul-de-sac will be constructed at the road end, sanitary sewer will be extended, and water main will be upgraded. Third Street between Inverness Street and Central Street will be resurfaced. Minor drainage improvements are also anticipated.
Dexter-Ann Arbor Road Rehabilitation
Schedule: June to August
Description: Dexter-Ann Arbor Road between Lexington Drive and west of Meadowview Drive will be widened and resurfaced, with curb and gutter extending along both sides of the roadway. Additional turn lanes will be added to Dexter-Ann Arbor Road at Meadowview Drive. The sidewalk will be completed on the south side of the roadway and some storm sewer will be installed.
Baker Road Streetscape Improvements
Schedule: To be determined
Description: The project extends along Baker Road from Grand Street to Main Street. The work to be completed includes installing decorative streetscape lighting, planting trees, and improving the sidewalk.
Cedars of Dexter Site Development
Schedule: April to October; Island Lake road closure July 10 to Aug. 13.
Description: Construction of a retirement community consisting of 60 housing units and a community center. It also involves removal and replacement of Island Lake Road and construction of utilities in the Island Lake Road right-of-way (April to July).
Dexter District Library
Schedule: Through Fall 2008
Description: Construction on the Dexter District Library on Alpine Street will continue through late fall of this year. For more about the project visit www.dexter.lib.mi.us/newbuilding/index.html.
