Dexter was one of only four schools statewide to have six players named All-State this season. The other three teams were state powers Livonia Churchill, Orchard Lake St. Mary's and Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood.
The Dreadnaughts captured a Southeastern Conference championship and a Division III state pre-regional title this year. Dexter lost to Dearborn Divine Child in the Division III state regional final, concluding its season.
Named first-team All-SEC for the Dreadnaughts this year were senior forward Nick Field, senior forward Alex Johnston and junior goaltender Nick Ceccolini.
Earning All-SEC honorable mention for Dexter were junior defensemen Austin Shapiro and Hunter Lyons.
Receiving the SEC Sportsmanship Award for the Dreads was senior forward Zach Stanislovaitis.
Named Scholar-Athletes for Dexter were junior defenseman Andrew Hatch, sophomore defenseman Alex Erber, sophomore forward Chris Carender and Shapiro.
Selected as Dreadnaught co-MVPs were Field and Ceccolini.
Field, a first-team Division III All-State pick, led Dexter with 38 goals and 24 assists for 62 points this past season. He had 14 power play goals and five game-winning goals for the Dreads.
"Nick is one of those kids that if it's (game) close, he wants the puck," said Dexter coach Gary Howell. "He's a really solid skater. He shoots the puck well and he has a very good set of hands."
Ceccolini, a second-team Division III All-State selection, finished the year with an 18-5-1 record between the pipes. He had a 2.30 goals against average and a save percentage of 94. He had three shutouts and three assists this season.
"He does everything right," Howell said. "He has an ability to steal goals. He's able to put up a wall and shut a team down. He's quick and has great hockey instincts. That's what sets him apart from other players."
Stanislovaitis, who was named Division III All-State honorable mention this past year, earned the team's Most Improved Award.
"Zach played a big part on our team," Howell said. "We had a couple of injuries and Zach stepped up and became our third scorer. He scored a lot of big goals and killed penalties for us."
Receiving the Rookie of the Year Award was sophomore forward Mike Herter.
Senior forward Mike Machnik received the Wallace/Unrath Award for Dexter. The award is given to the player who overcomes personal hardship or injury during the season. Machnik broke his collarbone nine games into the season.
"He was on pace for an All-State season," Howell said.
Sophomore forward Connor Johnston earned the Herbst Award for the Dreads. The award is presented to a first-year player who best demonstrates the desire for improvement.
Lyons received the Devine Award for Dexter. The award is given to the player who best exemplifies leadership and sportsmanship.
Alex Johnston received the Hobey Baker Character Award for the Dreads. Johnston was selected first-team Division III All-State this year, scoring 28 goals with 30 assists for 58 points.
