The Huron River Watershed Council is hosting a kick-off event for Portage Creek and area lakes from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Howlett Elementary School gymnasium, 126 Webb St., in Gregory. Attendees will share what interests them about the Portage Creek watershed and how they'd like to be involved. Journey to the Sugar Bush10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. Take a journey to the sugar bush on a guided tour. You will travel back in time and experience how maple syrup has been made over the years. You may also get a chance to tap a tree. Also, enjoy an all you can eat pancake and sausage breakfast. Guided Tour $2 per person. Pancake Breakfast $3.50/child and $5/adult. Breakfast is served from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event also March 22, 29-30.

How Things Move: 2 p.m., Saturday, March 29. Getting from one place to another is more than placing one foot in front of the other in the animal world. Paul McCormack will bring a variety of live animals for this hands-on program to show you who slithers, jumps, flies and crawls. Program length 60 minutes.
