Dexter's Bret Marsh and Corey Chamberlain will compete in the Division 2 state wrestling finals Thursday through Saturday at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

A senior, Marsh is the defending state champion at 112 pounds. Last year, he beat Jake Walters of St. Johns 8-2 to win the state title. Marsh was 53-2 overall a season ago.
This year, Marsh, competing at 119, is unbeaten at 54-0. In his first round match-up, he will face St. Clair Shores Lakeview junior Nick Marino (45-10).
To win a state championship, a wrestler needs to win four straight matches. In a poor job of seeding, Marsh will more than likely face his toughest opponent in the semifinals, instead of the final. Taking on Marsh in the semifinals, if all goes as planned, would be Ypsilanti senior Greg Egbert (49-0).
Besides Egbert, Marsh's main competition in the 119 weight class appears to be Allegan junior Steve Poffenberger (54-1), Linden junior Josh Freitas (43-8) and Mattawan senior Sean Tomac (48-3).
Chamberlain (40-9) will battle it out in the heavyweight division.
Last year, Chamberlain finished 1-2 at the state meet, ending the season with an overall record of 38-16.
This year, Chamberlain, a junior, will square off against Oxford junior Dylan Smith (32-13) in his opening bout. If successful against Smith, Chamberlain would more than likely face Milan junior David Box (55-2) in the state quarterfinals. Box is rated as one of the tournament favorites for the title.
Besides Box, other top heavyweights include Lapeer East senior Jarrett Starr (44-3), Niles senior Kenyon Ellison (46-3), Eaton Rapids senior Josh Hendrickson (51-7) and Caledonia senior Michael Schaibly (43-1).
Tickets for the finals are $10 for single session reserved seats and $9 for single session general admission.
The Grand March and final matches are Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
