Similar to Inspector Gadget or MacGyver, this year's Dexter's boys' basketball team seems to somehow find a way to get the job done.

And that job this season has been winning basketball games.
Last Thursday, the Dreadnaughts (12-4, 8-2 Southeastern Conference) defeated visiting Temperance Bedford 49-40. With its victory, Dexter has won three straight games and seven of its last eight contests.
Against the scrappy Mules, the Dreadnaughts led 10-8 after one quarter.
In the second quarter, Dexter heated up offensively, outscoring Bedford 13-3 taking a 23-11 advantage into the break.
In the third quarter, the Mules came out firing on all cylinders.
"We had a comfortable lead at halftime," said Dexter coach Randy Swoverland. "They came out in the third quarter and hit four triples. We had trouble scoring."
For the night, long-range bombing Bedford nailed nine three-pointers.
In the third quarter, the Mules outscored the Dreadnaughts 14-7, cutting Dexter's seemingly safe halftime lead to five points, 30-25.
In the fourth quarter, the Dreadnaughts hunkered down and began pounding the ball inside to 6-foot-3, 220-pound senior post player Rob Kuzon. An All-State goalie for Dexter's state champion boys' soccer team, Kuzon used his superior power and quickness to control the paint late in the game.
"In the fourth quarter, we went inside to Kuzon," Swoverland said. "He had a size advantage down low."
Kuzon, who finished with a team-high 19 points, poured in 15 points in the fourth quarter to spark the Dreadnaughts.
Dexter outscored the Mules 19-15 in the fourth frame to secure its victory.
Junior guard T.J. Fenske (6-1) and junior center Dave Pisano (6-4, 210) each added eight points for the Dreadnaughts.
Senior forward James Nati (6-4) and sophomore guard Ryan Lemasters each chipped in four points for Dexter. Nati also hauled down a team-high eight rebounds.
Senior point guard Johnny Benjamin (6-4) finished with three points and a team-high six assists, while senior guard Scott Ruhlig had two points and senior swing player C.J. Burhop one point for the Dreadnaughts.
Dexter next hosts Ypsilanti Lincoln Friday at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, the Dreadnaughts host Tecumseh at 7 p.m.
On March 2, Dexter concludes its regular season hosting county rival and Class B No. 2-ranked Chelsea at 7 p.m.
