"We shot the ball poorly for the majority of the game," said Dexter coach Randy Swoverland.

The Indians ran out to an 11-8 first quarter lead.

At halftime, Tecumseh increased its advantage to 26-17.

In the third quarter, the Dreadnaughts (8-10, 5-9 Southeastern Conference) outscored the Indians 19-17 cutting the Tecumseh lead to 43-36 heading into the fourth frame.

In the fourth quarter, Dexter dug down deep, scoring 11 points, while holding the Indians to four points tying the game at 47-47 at the end of regulation.

In the extra session, Tecumseh regrouped outscoring the Dreadnaughts 14-3 for the night's final margin.

"Our defense rallied us in the fourth quarter," Swoverland said. "In overtime, things unraveled. They (Tecumseh) shot 18 free throws. It was a tough night."

Leading Dexter was freshman center Dave LaMore (6-foot-6, 195 pounds) who finished with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Senior post player Dave Pisano (6-5, 235) added 10 points and eight boards, while senior guard T.J. Fenske had nine points and junior forward Dan Newell (6-4) eight points for the Dreadnaughts.

Sophomore guard Stefan Elslager had four points, while junior guard Steve Muchmore had three points and junior guard Ryan Lemasters two points for Dexter.

On Feb. 12, the visiting Dreadnaughts defeated Temperance Bedford 63-56.

Dexter raced out to a 26-15 first quarter lead. Fenske led the way draining five three-pointers in the first frame.

At halftime, the Dreadnaughts continued leading 36-27.

Entering the fourth quarter, Dexter held a 42-36 advantage.

In the fourth stanza, the Dreadnaughts outscored the Mules 21-20 for the contest's final outcome.

Dexter sealed its victory making 9-of-10 free throws in the fourth quarter. For the game, the Dreadnaughts were 14-of-15 from the line.

"We had a good start," Swoverland said. "Fenske's threes really helped. It was good to stop the streak."

Entering the Bedford contest, Dexter had lost seven straight games.

Fenske paced the Dreadnaughts with 17 points.

Lemasters chipped in 13 points and eight assists.

Newell ended up with 12 points, while Pisano had 11 points and seven boards, Muchmore six points and Elslager four points for Dexter.
