Piranhas dunk Sea Serpents in dual meet

The Dexter Community Aquatics Club Piranhas won its second meet of the winter season 501.5-389.5 over the Howell Sea Serpents.

With the win, the Piranhas remain unbeaten. It has been two plus years since the team has dropped a dual meet.
The 8-years-old and under boys' 100 medley relay team of Alex Janosi, Andy Dolen, Kevin Kimmel, and Casey Dolen placed first in 1:33.87.
Casey Dolen grabbed third place in the 25 freestyle in 19.95, while Thomas Stanton was fifth in 23.18, Thomas Griffith sixth in 25.55, William Bergdolt eighth in 32.27 and Max Nevin touching in 33.16.
Andy Dolen finished first in the 25 breaststroke in 22.64, while Janosi was third in 23.55, Casey Dolen fifth in 33.77 and Stanton eighth in 36.26.
Other Piranhas turning in solid times were Jack Schneider, Max Nowak, Bergdolt and Nevin. Griffith, Nowak, Bergdolt, and Schneider turned in a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle relay, while teammates Andy Dolen, Kimmel, Stanton and Janosi took third place.
The girls' 8-years-old and under 100 medley relay team of Annette Schultz, Sarah Zofchak, Amelia Kinnard and Madeline Kaufman took first in 1.28:30, while the foursome of Jordan McGinnis, Emma Tamer, Lydia Savatsky, and Grace Kacmarek took second in 1:32.54. In the 25 freestyle, Daniella Rupert placed second in 17.90, while Annelise Luoma was fifth in 22.67, followed by Dylan Gilbert in 23.04 and Heather Brouwer tallying points in ninth.
Others turning in great efforts included Kaitlin Hemholtz, Rebecca Messiter, Elisabeth Johanson, Unya Sripradisvarakul, Emma Schneider, and Megan Kempf.
Dani Waidley cruised to a first-place finish in the 25 breaststroke in 23.63, while Rupert, Tamer, Phoebe Sotiroff, Savitsky, Kinnard, Zofchak, and Gilbert scored fourth through 10th spots in the event, respectively.
The top three spots in the 100 freestyle relay went to Dexter led by the foursome of Schultz, Kaufman, Kinnard, and Zofchak in 1:17.04, followed by the squad of McGinnis, Kacmarek, Tamer, and Sotiroff and the quartet of Jordan Maisch, Brouwer, Luoma, and Gilbert.
The 9- through 10-year-old boys' 200 medley relay team of Zach Martell, Guy Burke, Andrew Peck and Rob Zofchak placed first in 2:28.61, followed by Mike Bradshaw, Mason Opp, Ryan Stanton and David Merz in 2:48.58.
Taking third was the team of Jake Nevin, Alex Nevin, Matthew Bergdolt and Ethan Reynolds in 2:50.43. Pek took top honors in the 50 freestyle in 31.52, followed by Reynolds in 34.09 and Martell in 34.46.
Alex Golin took sixth in 39.63, while Jonathan King was 10th in 42.13 and Griffin Beck 12th in 44.52. Strong swims were also recorded by Kyle Reisman, Al Shoopman, Will Wendorf, Chris Seidleck, and Sean Seidleck.
Claiming the top eight spots in the 50 breaststroke were Zofchak taking first in 42.59, followed by Alex Nevin in 43.86, Stanton in 44.46, Burke in 45.19, Jake Nevin in 48.50, Merz in 49.66, King in 51.51 and Opp in 52.13. Zofchak, Martell, Stanton and Pek easily won the 200 freestyle relay with Bradshaw, Opp, Reynolds, and Merz touching in second.
The 9- through 10-year-old girls' 200 medley relay team of Lizzy Merriman, Kate Mesaros, Reagan Maisch and Allison Franz cruised to a first-place finish in 2:35.75.
Teammates Sarah Lynch, Kaylee Witte, Tya Chuanromanee and Emmah Boquette took third in 2:45.51.
Amanda Fileccia led the Piranhas in the 50 freestyle touching in 38.08 placing sixth, while Alexis Marsh and Breanna Kempf swam personal best times to secure points in the event.
The girls bounced back in the 50 breaststroke claiming the top four spots. Merriman finished at the top in 44.65, followed by Maisch in 45.67, Mesaros in 46.18, and Franz in 46.24.
Boquette placed sixth in 47.21, while Lynch was eighth in 49.17 and Megan Carr 10th in 50.50. Outstanding individual heat performances were swam by Witte, Nell Kacmarek, Allison Schneider, Joy Hook, Fileccia, Catie Prehoda, Ryan Scherdt, Gretchen Schultz and Witte.
Merriman, Boquette, Lynch and Franz took top honors in the 200 freestyle relay in 2:17.88 and Chuanromanee, Mesaros, Witte, and Kacmarek placed second in 2:32.08. The 11- through 12-years-old boys' 200 medley relay team narrowly lost out on the top spot finishing second with Max Merriman, David Alday, Brennan Maisch and Jonathan Zofchak touching in 2:12.63.
Zofchak placed second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.22, while Maisch was third in 28.12, followed by Merriman in fifth touching the wall in 29.88.
Aaron Kelly finished eighth in 34.04, while Tyler Orr was 10th in 35.84 and Derek Melinsky 11th in 42.47. Maisch grabbed fourth in the 50 breaststroke in 39.33, while Alday was fifth in 39.35, Zofchak sixth in 40.26, Merriman seventh in 41.97, Kelley ninth in 48.19, Orr 11th in 53.51 and Melinsky 12th.
The squad of Alday, Kelley, Orr, and Melinsky took first place in the 200 freestyle in 2:24.13. The 11- through 12-years-old girls' squad claimed the top two spots in the 200 medley relay with the team of Laura Stanton, Chante Liu, Rachel Vesey and Taylor Orr getting first in 2:20.25.
Nicole Reisman, Alex Maser, Megan Lynch and Jenna Luoma placed second in 2:30.09. Stanton garnered first in the 50 freestyle in 30.77, while Luoma was third in 31.89, Katie Stilber was seventh in 34.58, Allie Stilber eighth in 34.81 and Reisman ninth in 34.91.
Strong swims were turned in by Emily Messiter, Shelby Scherdt, Zoe Marks and Shelby Bota. Liu took first in the 50 breaststroke in 40.72, followed by Orr in 41.28, Maser in 41.97, Vesey in 42.89, and Luoma in 43.28 to round out the top five.
Reisman took seventh in 44.43 and Audrey Sleder was eighth in 46.15. Katy Kleinhenz, Bota, Scherdt, and Messiter recorded personal best times. Vesey, Orr, Stanton and Liu took first in the 200 freestyle in 2:05.07, while teammates Katie Stilber, Maser, Lynch, and Sleder finished third in 2:19.31.
The quartet of Joey Pek, Kyle Franz, Joe Wendorf and Connor Thompson placed second in the 200 medley relay in 2:11.07 for the 13- through 14-year-old boys. Pek led the Piranhas in the 50 freestyle finishing sixth in 30.72. Franz easily outdistanced the competition in the 100 breaststroke clocking in at 1:11.50 with Thompson finishing fourth in 1:26.12 and Wendorf taking fifth in 1:26.26.
The squad of Franz, Wendorf, Thompson, and Pek claimed second in the 200 freestyle relay finishing in 1:54.45.
The 13- through 14-year-old girls' medley real team of Lisa Crompton, Hailey Sheets, Melissa Vesey, and Murphy Hansen claimed first in 2:05.10, while teammates Megan Day, Kate Fitzsimons, Molly Keenan, and Nicole Minzey took third place in 2:12.16.
Minzey grabbed third place in the 50 fwhile reestyle in 28.33, Crompton was sixth with a 29.15, Day seventh with a 29.28 and Michelle Brouwer ninth in 31.19. Sheats touched in 1:19.02 to take first in the 100 breaststroke, while Hansen was second in 1:19.42.
Kate Fitzsimmons finished fifth in 1:26.01, while Vesey was sixth in 1:27.62, Susie Butler grabbed eighth place in 1:28.26, Keenan was ninth in 1:28.41, Marne Little 10th in 1:29.02 and Brianna Tingley 12th in 1:32.27. Minzey, Vesey, Crompton, and Hansen took first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:52.04, while third place went to Day, Tingley, Sheats and Keenan.
The foursome of Casey Edwards, Felicity Burke, Cora McHugh and Emily Wetzel took top honors in the girls' 15- through 18-year-old 200 medley relay with a time of 2:14.35. Edwards followed up with a first-place finish in the 50 freestyle in 26.85, while Natalie Fluent scored a second in 28.40, Wetzel fourth in 29.26, Paige Sheats sixth in 30.37 and McHugh seventh in 31.84.
Edwards again claimed top honors in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:18.57, while Fluent was third in 1:28.81, Wetzel fourth in 1:30.64, Sheats fifth in 1:30.79 and Burke seventh in 1:33.91 for the Piranhas. Dexter Community Aquatics Club's Fluent, Burke, McHugh and Sheats closed out the scoring for the Piranhas taking first in the 200 freestyle relay in 2:04.21.
