Jane Rose Freeman

Chelsea

Jane Rose Freeman of Chelsea passed away Feb. 16, 2008 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. She was 94.

She was born on Nov. 26, 1913 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Golden and Mura (Arims) Brooks. Jane had lived in the area since 1946 moving from Detroit. She and her husband built and operated North Lake Store and sold the business in 1969. For several years she was employed at Chelsea Community Hospital in admitting and was the gift shop manager of the Arbor Nook gift shop. She loved all kinds of antiques and was a dealer in the area for many years.

On April 1, 1944 she married Harry Scott Freeman and he preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1999. Surviving are two children, Richard, "Toby" (Karen) Freeman of Ft. Myers Beach, Fl., and Lynne (Phillip) Boham of Chelsea. Six grandchildren, Richard Boham, Shelley Hilts, Christa Caparello, David, Daniel, and Donald Freeman, fourteen great grandchildren as well. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Russel and Robert Freeman. Per Mrs. Freeman's request there will be no services. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Chelsea Community Hospital.

Richard J. Ball

Grass Lake

Richard J. Ball of Grass Lake, formerly of Chelsea, went to be with his heavenly Father, Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 at his home with his family and friends at his side. He was 62.

Mr. Ball was born on April 11, 1945 in Chelsea. In his early years he was adopted and raised by his grandparents, Joseph and Rose "Zink" Ball. Richard worked for the Local 190 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union for 30 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Chelsea. He loved hunting, working on old cars and red tractors, but it was his children and grandchildren that he truly adored.

On Oct. 16, 1967, he married Sandra K. Bailey in Ann Arbor and she survives; also surviving are two children, Mike (Karen) Ball of Chelsea, and Michelle (Thomas) Baisden of Stockbridge; six grandchildren Amanda and Ashley Ball, Lacey and Jarrett Hadley, and Brook and Dylan Baisden; four brothers David Ball of North Carolina, Thomas Ball of Florida, Mike (Beverly) Slane of Chelsea and Charles Slane of Munith; three sisters, Mary Schiller of Chelsea, Rose (John) Goebel of Missouri, and Mary Gaken of Chelsea; also several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends, including Kimberly Whitaker. Richard was preceded in death by three brothers, Duffield, Edward and Robert Sr. Ball; two sisters, Roseanne Gimmey and Dorothy Hunawill; also one nephew Robert Ball Jr.

Funeral services were Feb. 18, 2008 from Faith Baptist Church of Chelsea with Pastors Jack Story and Mark Adam Summers co-officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove East Cemetery, Chelsea. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Ball Family.

Maudie R. (Annalee) Buchanan

Grayling

Mrs. Maudie R. "Annalee" Buchanan, 68, of Grayling passed away on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008.

Annalee was born in Royalton, KY on Oct. 12, 1939, the daughter of the late Everett and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Risner. She was married to Walter Auxier, Sr. for 32 years. He preceded her in death in 1991. Annalee married Thomas Buchanan in May of 2002 in Royalton, KY . She was a member of Resurrection Life Fellowship Center.

She is survived by

husband Thomas Buchanan

Daughters: Tonitte (James) Collins of Salyersville, KY.

Patty (Rickey) Wireman of Royalton, KY. Mary Havitz of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Son:Walter (Kathy) Auxier, Jr. of Salyersville, KY.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren Sister: Pearlie Risner of Royalton, KY. Brother: Lawrence Grey Risner of Chelsea.

Preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Walter Auxier, Sr.; Son, Anthoney Lee Auxier; Daughter, Betty Jo Risner, 3 brothers and one sister.
