The Dexter Community Orchestra is in its third season this year.
The group of musicians from Dexter and surrounding areas will be performing a free concert at March 2 at 3 p.m. at the Dexter High School Center for the Performing Arts, 2200 N. Parker Road, under Music Director Donald Parrish.
The orchestra will be performing Gershwin's "An American in Paris" and Brahms' Symphony No. 2.
The Dexter Cooperative Nursery has scheduled an open house at 5:30 p.m. on March 13. It's probably a good idea to at least take a look, according to Christina Ladd, Dexter Co-op president.
"Our tuition is much less than typical preschools, which is a benefit with the current economy," she said.
The co-op's purpose is not only to teach children, but to involve parents in the learning process. The facility is open Monday through Friday, with classes in the morning and afternoon.

Celebration concert
The Dexter Community Band will present a Celebration Concert during its 26th season at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The concert is free to the public and will take place at the Dexter High School Center for the Performing Arts, 2200 N. Parker Road.
The concert is to celebrate February as the month of love. The concert's theme is the traditional wedding saying, "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue."
The season of love will be represented by "My Fair Lady" by Lerner and Lowe, and "Highlights from 'Beauty and The Beast'" arranged by John Moss.
Weddings and marriage will be celebrated with several numbers including Mendelssohn's "Wedding March," Smetana's "Polka from 'The Bartered Bride'" and "The Marriage of Figaro" by Mozart.
The Finale from Antonin Dvorak's "New World Symphony," transcribed by Erik Leidzen, covers the "Something New" portion of the phrase.
The band will also present "Bora Bora Suite for Band" by local composer Scott Boerma. The suite evokes many sights and sounds of Bora Bora, an exotic South Seas honeymoon destination.
The band's final concert for the 2007-08 season is planned for April 27.
