Dexter fourth at league meet

Dexter wrestling finished fourth overall in the Southeastern Conference at last Saturday's league meet at Saline.

The Dreadnaughts ended up with 151 points.
Winning the league title was perennial state power Temperance Bedford with 314 points.
State-ranked Tecumseh was second with 241 points, while Saline was third with 160.5 points.
In the SEC White Division, Dexter placed second.
The Indians were first in the SEC White, while Ypsilanti Lincoln was third and Chelsea fourth.
Individually for the Dreadnaughts, Bret Marsh captured a league championship at 112 pounds. In the final, Marsh, a junior, defeated Bedford's Dale Hensley on a 15-0 technical fall.
"Bret looked extremely well on Saturday," said Dexter coach Craig McCalla. "Bret tech falled every one of his opponents. He was dominant on the mat."
Zeb Klapperich finished second overall at 125 for Dexter, losing to Bedford's James Fisher 12-3 in the league final. He was first in the SEC White Division.
"Zeb had another good showing on Saturday," McCalla said.
Michael Campbell placed second at 152 for Dexter, losing to Bedford's Alex Ortman by pin in 5:16 in the final. He finished first in the SEC White Division.
"Michael looked good on the mat today," McCalla said. "He won a tough match over Shane Elkins from Tecumseh to get into the finals."
At 119, Mitch Crawford was fourth for the Dreads. He was third in the SEC White Division.
"Mitch wrestled extremely well on Saturday losing in overtime to go on to the finals," McCalla said. "Mitch is wrestling better and better each meet."
Larry Gunderson placed fourth at 145 for Dexter. He was second in the White Division.
"Larry is a senior who never wrestled until this year," McCalla said. "He has done a great job for us this year."
Mike Swager ended up fourth overall at 189 for the Dreadnaughts. He was first in the SEC White Division.
Corey Chamberlain was fourth overall at heavyweight. He was second in the SEC White Division for Dexter.
At 103, Dan Flowers finished fifth overall and second in the SEC White Division.
Mark Bertsos placed fifth overall and third in the SEC White Division at 140.
Scott Santoro ended up fifth overall and second in the SEC White Division at 171 for Dexter.
At 130, Brandon Saunders was seventh overall and third in the SEC White Division for the Dreadnaughts.
Hunter Briggs was seventh at 160 for Dexter. He was third in the SEC White Division.
Chase Stevens finished eighth at 135 and fourth in the SEC White Division for Dexter.
Last Thursday, the Dreadnaughts competed in the Carleton Airport quad.
Dexter defeated the Bedford B team 37-36, while losing to Airport 57-18.
Against the Mules, Chamberlain pinned Dakota Pavlika in 4:45 at heavyweight.
At 103, Flowers beat Corey Pavlika on a 15-0 technical fall.
Marsh won by void at 112.
Crawford won by technical fall over Kevin McKinney 15-0 at 119.
Klapperich pinned Mike Peck in 1:02 at 125.
Saunders lost by pin in 3:02 to Brandon Lewis at 130.
Dexter's Tommy Owens lost by pin in 1:40 to Aaron Jeffery at 135.
At 140, Bertsos lost to T.J. Romine 10-4.
Gunderson lost 5-2 to Drew Jurgenson at 145.
Dreadnaught Nick Chaconas lost by pin in 27 seconds to Mika Bellas at 152.
Campbell beat Pat Nusbaum 5-2 at 160.
Briggs lost by pin to Tony Fye in 55 seconds at 171.
At 189, Swager pinned Eric Draper in 3:56.
Dexter's Alex Papin lost by pin in 39 seconds to Kyle Young at 215.
Against Airport, Flowers won by major decision 13-0 over Thomas Fudoli at 103.
Marsh beat Andrew Clark 6-0 at 112.
Crawford lost 6-3 to Chris Cavins at 119.
Klapperich won by technical fall 16-0 over John Langston at 125.
Saunders lost by pin in 1:11 to Tommy McLaughlin at 130.
At 135, Owens lost by pin in 1:05 to Deven Brown.
Airport's Drew Nava won by void at 140.
At 145, Chaconas lost by pin in 25 seconds to Jake McKenzie.
Campbell lost by pin in 3:34 to Ronnie Szoch at 152.
The Jets' Dylan Close won by void at 160.
Briggs lost by pin in 41 seconds to Josh Close at 171.
Swager lost by disqualification to Adam Fahnestock at 189.
Papin was pinned in 48 seconds by Dustin Morrison at 215.
Chamberlain won by pin in 54 seconds over Evan Epoch at heavyweight.
"The boys wrestled hard on Thursday," McCalla said. "Bedford is always tough and Carleton Airport has an experienced team. Dan Flowers, Zeb Klapperich and Corey Chamberlain all wrestled two great matches. It's good to see their hard work pay off."
