Tuesday

Faith in Action will have a career advisor available every Tuesday from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at 603 S. Main Street in Chelsea, to help with resume writing, job searching, career research and talent evaluation. This service is open to anyone who could use help with employment issues. A Michigan Works! Saturday, Feb. 23

Chelsea's show choir, Company C is once again presenting "Showcase" with guest show choirs from around the state, 7 p.m. at the Chelsea High School auditorium, 740 N. Freer Rd. This year the theme is "Shake Rattle and Roll" which highlights song and dance from the 1950's. Tickets are $10 available at Chelsea Pharmacy or at the door.

McKune Memorial Library

Books and Banter

On the third Thursday of each month from 1:30 to 3 p.m., join us for a lively discussion of new books, old books and everything in between, hosted by Michaelina Brown. Reserved copies of books are available for participants; to get one, call to sign up.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. at Thomson-Shore, 7300 W. Joy Rd., in Dexter. To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE or visit www.givelife.org Walk-ins are welcome. Donors must be 17 years old, weigh 110 lbs. and be in good health. There will be free juice and cookies for all donors.

St. Mary Men's Club will hold a fish dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. every Friday during lent at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10601 Dexter-Pinckney Rd., in Pinckney. The cost is $9 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, $4 for children under age 12 and $25 for a family (immediate family only). Take-out is also available. For more information, call 734-878-0219.

A Valentine's Day celebration will begin 7 p.m. with dinner at St. Andrew's United Church of Christ, 7610 Ann Arbor St., in Dexter. Following dinner a ceremony in the Sanctuary for couples who wish to renew their wedding vows. Then "Chordiology" a local barbershop quartette will finish the evening. The Dexter-Chelsea Chapter of American Business Women's Association is sponsoring a Cabin Fever Book and Bake Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The American Legion, 8225 Dexter-Chelsea Rd., in Dexter. The Cabin Fever event is a fundraiser to help support educational scholarships for local students.

Monday, Feb. 25

Chelsea Senior Center

The Chelsea Senior Center's February events: All programs require pre-registration by calling 475-9242. Most programs are free for members. Lunch is $2.50 at noon.

Hudson Mills Metropark

March 1-2

Journey to the Sugar Bush10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. Take a journey to the sugar bush on a guided tour. You will travel back in time and experience how maple syrup has been made over the years. You may also get a chance to tap a tree. Also, enjoy an all you can eat pancake and sausage breakfast. Guided Tour $2 per person. Pancake Breakfast $3.50/child and $5/adult. Breakfast is served from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Event also March 8-9, 22, 29-30.

March 16

Easter Egg Hunt. Noon. Kids through the ages of 12 are welcome. Participate in a variety of activities such as getting your face painted, petting farm animals and visiting with the Easter Bunny while you wait for your age group to be called. $2/child in advance and $4/child at the door.

Waterloo Recreation Area

The following are programs and events scheduled at the Waterloo Recreation Area. The Eddy Discovery Center is the headquarters for the WRA and is located at 17030 Bush Road in Chelsea. For more information on program and events call 1-734-475-3170.

Animal Magic: 2 - 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23: The popular animal rescuer and magician, Mark Rosenthal, will entertain, educate and astound you with his combination of live animals and magic.

Learn how animals survive in their exotic native areas around the world.
