With 15 seconds left in the second period, Dexter finally was able to get on the scoreboard as Nick Field scored a power play goal. Justin Jack and Alex Johnston recorded assists on the play for the Dreadnaughts.

The Fighting Irish out-shot the Dreadnaughts 34-26 for the night.

Earning the win in net for Dexter was goaltender Ceccolini.

"The last eight to 10 minutes of the game we played well," said Dexter coach Gary Howell. "Prior to that, we didn't play very well. But they're a solid team. They're well coached."

On Jan. 31, the visiting Dreadnaughts defeated Ypsilanti Lincoln 8-0. The game was stopped with 2:21 left in the third period because of the mercy rule.

"We started out a little slow, but our skill guys eventually got going," Howell said. "The young guys also played a really good game."

Field began the scoring with a goal at 9:34 of the first period. Mike Herter and Alex Johnston assisted on the play for Dexter.

With 20 seconds left in the first period, Alex Johnston scored off an assist from Lucas and Jack upping the Dreads' advantage to 2-0.

At 14:29 of the second period, Alex Johnston scored for a 3-0 Dexter lead. Field and Herter assisted on the goal for the Dreadnaughts.

Four minutes later, Alex Johnston scored his third goal of the game for a hat trick. Field and Herter recorded assists.

At 5:02 of the second period, Alex Johnston scored an unassisted shorthanded goal giving Dexter a commanding 5-0 lead.

In the third period, Field scored his second goal of the night on a power play at 14:03. Alex Johnston and Jack picked up assists on the goal for the Dreadnaughts.

Three minutes later, Chris Carrender scored off an assist from Bryan Zhou and Connor Johnston for a 7-0 Dexter advantage.

Alex Johnston closed out the scoring beating the Railsplitter net minder unassisted for his fifth goal of the game.

"He had a great game," Howell said of Johnston, who also had two assists. "The whole line (including Field and Herter) moved the puck well. They've been working on improving their puck movement all season."

The Dreads out-shot Lincoln 48-23 for the contest.

Ceccolini recorded the win between the pipes for Dexter.

The Dreadnaughts next host Pinckney 7 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Arena.

On Wednesday, Dexter travels to Saline for a game at 6:30 p.m.
