The Dreadnaughts (23-13-4) lost to county rival Chelsea in the quarterfinals 23-25, 28-30.

In pool play, Dexter defeated Lapeer East 25-17, 25-22 and Ypsilanti Lincoln 27-25, 25-14. The Dreads lost to Wyandotte 23-25, 23-25.

Winning the tournament was Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central. The Kestrels, who beat Pioneer in the final, are led by 6-foot-3 senior middle blocker and Purdue University recruit Kristen Arthur.

Colleen Lasecki led Dexter individually with 19 kills, 26 digs and five aces.

Camille Hanks added 18 kills, six aces and two digs, while Courtney Krips had 15 kills, 35 digs and two aces and Heather Bradshaw 47 digs and three aces for the Dreadnaughts.

Rosie Lee finished with a team-high 45 assists, 12 digs and four aces. Sonya Lewis had 35 assists, 10 digs and four aces for Dexter.

Last Thursday, the host Dreadnaughts defeated Southeastern Conference foe Adrian 25-21, 25-19, 25-9 in a dual match.

Dexter had extra incentive to win the match last week. Dreadnaught head coach Sarah Hynes gave birth to a healthy baby girl earlier in the day.

"The girls were excited to play for Coach Hynes," said Dexter assistant coach Ken Seiler. "Since she wasn't at the match they wanted to win for her. They played great."

Hanks led the way with seven kills and two aces.

Lasecki added 14 digs and three aces, while Bradshaw had 13 digs and Krips 12 digs and one ace.

Lee finished with 14 assists and two aces, while Lewis had 11 assists and a team-high four aces.

For the match, Dexter served 13 aces.

The Dreadnaughts next travel to SEC and county rival Chelsea for a match Thursday at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, Dexter visits Ann Arbor Huron for a contest at 7 p.m.

On Feb. 15, the Dreadnaughts travel to Saline for a match at 7 p.m.
