"We didn't wrestle well today," said Dexter coach Craig McCalla. "Many of our guys have been sick this weekend. You could see it on the mat. We are looking to get healthy and prepare ourselves for the league tournament."
The Maples started the meet strong, winning the first five matches.
"Adrian got off on a roll right away and it was hard to get the confidence built back up," McCalla said. "The guys went out and wrestled hard, but it didn't turn into points for us."
McCalla made special mention of two Dreadnaught grapplers.
"I was happy with the effort by Nick Chaconas and Jake Stacey," he said. "They wrestled two of the best athletes on Adrian's team and even though they lost they were aggressive and gave it all they had."
The match began at 130 pounds, where Dexter's Brandon Saunders lost by pin in 44 seconds to Gabe Negron.
At 135, Dreadnaught Tommy Owens lost by pin in 1:04 to Wes Verner.
Dexter's Mark Bertsos lost by a 17-2 technical fall to Theo White at 140.
At 145, Larry Gunderson lost 13-9 to Adrian's Rafael Rodriguez.
Justin Zay pinned Chaconas in 2:16 at 152.
Dreadnaught Michael Campbell defeated Carlos Rosas on a 14-2 major decision at 160.
Dexter's Scott Santoro lost a 15-0 technical fall to Will Marr at 171.
Chris Perry won by injury default over Stacey at 189.
Dreadnaught Mike Swager lost by pin in 1:53 to Josh Woodring at 215.
At heavyweight, Dexter's Corey Chamberlain pinned Brandon Guinn in 1:24.
Andrew Sutter pinned Dreadnaught Dan Flowers in 5:56 at 103.
Dexter's Dom D'Onofrio beat Eric Spiegal 12-7 at 112.
"Dom did a great job," McCalla said. "He wasn't feeling especially well, but he went out and wrestled hard for six minutes."
At 119, Dreadnaught Bret Marsh pinned Mike McDowell in 46 seconds.
Dexter's Zeb Klapperich won by defensive fall over Logan Vernor in 22 seconds at 125.
"Bret Marsh, Zeb Klapperich, Michael Campbell and Corey Chamberlain are looking good at this point in the season," McCalla said.
The Dreadnaughts next travel to Saline to participate in the SEC meet Saturday at 9 a.m.
