Sharon Ann Bradbury of Chelsea passed away Jan. 25, 2007 at Arbor Hospice Residence. She was 60.
She was born July 30, 1946 the daughter of William E. and Martina F. (Legg) Burke in Garden City. She had graduated from Howell High School in 1965. She had served in the US Army from 1969-1972. She had lived in the Chelsea area since 1980, and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She worked as an RN for Foote Hospital and the Chelsea Retirement Community Chelsea Community Hospital and St. Joseph Mercy Hospitals. She loved to travel, and one of her pastimes was collecting salt and pepper shakers.
On May 16, 1980 she married James C. Bradbury, and he survives. Also surviving are four children Jennifer (George) Stickles, California, Kellie (James) Snider, of Grants Pass, Ore., John M. Bradbury of Arizona, and Paul (Patty) Bradbury of Cave Junction, Ore.; also nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was held Jan. 31, 2007 from St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Dr. William J. Turner officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Chelsea. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Michigan Diabetes Association.
Darren Benjamin Powell of Dexter passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007 at University Hospital. He was 35.
Mr. Powell was born Oct. 22, 1971 in Ann Arbor, to Benjamin and Connie (Krull) Powell of Dexter. He is survived by his parents, brother; Tim (Cathy) Powell of Ypsilanti, grandmother, Mabel (Proctor) Pidd of Chelsea and grandmother, Margaret Powell of Hartselle, Ala., several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by very special friends; Stacy Crews of Dexter, Shawn Finley of Dexter, Anna Lindemer of Ann Arbor, John and Julie Svinicki and family of Jackson, and Cliff Clark his case manager. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Jake and Midge Krull of Dexter, Erwin Pidd of Dexter, and Benjamin Powell of Hartselle, Ala.
Mr. Powell was a graduate of Dexter High School in 1991. He enjoyed Special Olympics throughout high school, The Tappan Adult Group, Sons of the American Legion, and he was an avid WWF fan. He was a dedicated employee of Meijer stores for over 15 years.
Visitation was held on Jan. 26 at the Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Chapel, Dexter. Funeral Services were held on Jan. 27 at St. Andrews United Church of Christ, Dexter. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Dexter. Donations may be made to Special Olympics- Dexter-Chelsea or to the family.
Rhonda L. Howard of Stockbridge passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township. She was 49.
She was born on Dec. 16, 1957 in Jackson, the daughter of Charles and Marge (Push) Minix. She had graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1976. She then attended Brooks College in Long Beach, Calif. and finished her bachelor's degree at Eastern Kentucky University. She was a seven year employee of 3-M in Ann Arbor and enjoyed golfing, cooking and playing with her grandchildren.
On May 8, 1983 she married Larry L. Howard in Waterloo, and he survives. Also surviving are her parents of Stockbridge, three children, Allisa Kunzelman of Jackson, Nicole (Brent) Stowe of Portage Lake, and Travis Howard of Houghton, one brother Chuck Minix (Lezlie Fowler) of Munith; also four grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were Jan. 29, 2007 from the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge. Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery, Stockbridge. Expressions of sympathy can be made to Gregory Family Tabernacle.
Eleanor Joy "Toni" Lowe of Jackson, formerly of Detroit and Linton, Ind., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007 at the Eaton Community Hospice. She was 84.
She was born in Raglesville, Ind. on Sept. 23, 1922 (twin sister to Elden) and the daughter of the late H. Thad and Iva E. (Chestnut) McHolland. She enjoyed playing bingo, crosswords, coin collecting and was a member of the VFW, Legion and the Moose in Linton. On March 7, 1953 she married Roy E. Lowe, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1983. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Joseph) Acquaviva of Jackson and a daughter–in-law, Jane Hazelton of Detroit; three grandchildren, one brother, Donald Phillips, a sister Hazel Stewart of Linton and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy, son, William R. Lowe and nine brothers and sisters. Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 27 from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea with Rev. Carol A. Spangenberg officiating. Larry D. Pierce of Grass Lake, age 49, passed away at home Jan. 21, 2007 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 22, 1957, the son of Virginia and Robert Pierce. He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years Sandra; sons, William Pierce and John Pierce and fiance Jessica; step daughter, Jennie Hartman and friend Brad; mother, Virginia L. Pierce; brothers, Tom (Jan), Richard (Diane), and David (Kimela); mother and father-in-law, Cliff (Doris) Hartman; several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, sister and brother-in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert; grandparents, Nathan (Helen) Pierce and Paul (Viola) Widmayer; great nephew, Charlie Paul. Mr. Pierce graduated from Grass Lake High School in 1975. His career began as the maintenance man at Grass Lake Community Schools and most recently was a teacher's assistant at Jackson Public Schools. He was a devoted husband, father, friend, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Larry's life was held Jan. 24, 2007 at St. John's United Church of Christ, Grass Lake with Rev. David Cornwell officiating. Charles H. Wylie of Dexter passed away at home on Jan. 28, 2007 after a courageous battle with heart and kidney disease. He was 62.
He was born May 12, 1944 in Ann Arbor, the son of Leon and Mary (Stalker) Wylie. He lived his entire life in Dexter.
He was a loving husband and father and shared a wonderful life of 16 years with his wife, Marjorie (Wheeler, Dunavin) who survives along with his daughter Kristin (Brian) Roberts of Chelsea, step-son Timothy (Sandra) Dunavin of Pleasant Lake, step-grandchildren: Heather Havens of Jackson, Stacy (Ronan) Harken of Arizona, Step-sisters: Diane Frost of Ypsilanti and Leona (Dave) Frost-Brault of Berkley.
He is also survived by his uncle, Rev. Fred Moore of, Florida, brother and sisters-in-law; Richard Wheeler of Ypsilanti, Carol (William Arnold) Miller of Dexter, Judy (Phillip) Gordon of Saline, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his special friend and companion, his golden retriever, Cody.
Mr. Wylie was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Beulah Wylie, sister, Sue Ann, twin daughters; Marlena and Nicole and special Aunt Bernice (Chubby) Moore and his Godparents; Jake and Midge Krull. Charles was the grandson of Dr. and Mrs. Wylie of Dexter.
Mr. Wylie graduated from Dexter High School in 1962 and attended Cleary College. He retired in 1997 after 31.9 years of employment from GM Powertrain of Ypsilanti. He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 325 Ann Arbor and the National Corvette Association. His great love of Corvettes gave him much enjoyment and pleasure.
Visitation was held Jan 31 from at the Hosmer-Muehlig Funeral Chapel, Dexter. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb 1, at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Dexter United Methodist Church, Michigan Kidney Foundation, or Arbor Hospice.
Dorothy A. Fisher Mielke of Chelsea died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born April 28, 1914 in Ludington, the daughter of J. Oscar & Huldah (Carlson) Anderson.
She retired from University Microfilms in 1981. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, where she was active in Sunday School, choir, and church council. She was a member of the Women's Club of Chelsea. She was a great fan of Michigan football and basketball.
She married C. Eugene Fisher on Dec. 9, 1938. He preceded her in death in May 1960. She married Emil Mielke in September 1972, and he preceded her in death in 1975. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Fisher (Robert S.) Walters of Pittsburgh, and Christine Fisher (James) Wheeler of Portage, Mich.; 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 6 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph A. Fisher, and a brother, Paul Anderson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 at Chelsea Retirement Community Chapel, Chelsea, with Rev. Beth Foster officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Chelsea.
The family will receive friends at Cole Funeral Chapel on Thursday, Feb, 1, from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 pm.
