Beach loses to Saline

Chelsea's Beach Middle School swimming and diving team lost to visiting Saline 137-33 Jan. 23.

In the 200 medley relay, the Bulldog foursome of Hannah Newbound, Megan Hall, Talia Dyerly and Jillian Dixon placed third. Robby Everard, Graham Rutherford, Logan Simpson and Blayde Ray touched fourth, while Bourke Lodewyk, Zach Ousley, Emily Phillips and Nick Deppner ended up fifth for Chelsea.
Nick Burris finished third in the 200 freestyle for Beach, while Anna Helvey was fourth and Kirk Olsen sixth.
Simpson placed fourth in the 100 individual medley, while Newbound was fifth and Lodewyk sixth for the Bulldogs.
In the 50 freestyle, Dixon finished fourth, while Ray was fifth and Everard sixth for Chelsea.
In the diving competition, Sarah Carrara placed third, while Jessi Battaglia was fifth and Mare Almhiemed sixth for Beach.
Dyerly touched fourth in the 50 butterfly, while Phillips was fifth and Katie Olsen sixth.
Helvey ended up fourth in the 100 freestyle, while Olsen was fifth and Katie Eisley sixth for the Bulldogs.
The Chelsea quartet of Simpson, Rutherford, Ray and Burris finished third in the 200 freestyle relay. Dixon, Newbound, Phillips and Dyerly placed fourth, while Hannah Mahalak, Katie Olsen, Kaila Croskey and Deppner ended up sixth.
In the 100 backstroke, Everard was third, while Deppner was fourth and Sheri Robbins fifth for Beach.
Hall finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke, while Ousley was fifth and Lodewyk sixth.
In the 400 freestyle relay, the Bulldog combo of Kirk Olsen, Simpson, Rutherford and Burris placed fourth. Phillips, Newbound, Dixon and Dyerly touched fifth, while Eisley, Croskey, Robbins and Mahalak finished sixth.
Chelsea next participates in the Michigan Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association state meet Saturday.
