The Dreadnaughts ended up with 129.5 points.
Capturing the meet was Dundee with 215 points.
Clinton Township Chippewa Valley was second with 140 points, while the host Mounties were third with 135 points.
Individually for Dexter, Dan Flowers placed second overall at 103 pounds. He lost in the final to Dundee's Derek Borsvold by pin in 3:22. On the day, Flowers was 2-1.
"Dan was wrestling well in the finals when he made a mistake and got caught," said Dexter coach Craig McCalla. "He did a great job today."
Bret Marsh finished second at 112 for the Dreadnaughts. He lost to Dundee's Josh White 5-3 in the final. Marsh was 2-1 overall for the tournament.
"Bret wrestled a good match in the finals and had a takedown right at the end of the third period, but time ran out and the ref did not award the points that would have sent the match into overtime," McCalla said.
Michael Campbell placed second at 152 for Dexter. He lost by pin in 5:35 to Dundee's Alex Goode in the final. On the day, Campbell was 3-1.
"Michael was one of the surprise wrestlers of the day," McCalla said. "He was seeded sixth and ended up beating the third and second seed to make it to the finals."
Dreadnaught Mike Swager finished third at 215. He won by disqualification over Northwest's Cliff Gumbert in the third-fourth-place match. Swager was 3-1 for the meet.
"Mike looked strong again today, but lost a tough match in the semifinals," McCalla said. "Mike's consolation finals match was an extremely physical match and Mike's opponent committed a flagrant foul. Mike did a nice job keeping mentally in the game."
Corey Chamberlain finished third at heavyweight for Dexter. He pinned Northwest's Keenan Crowley in 38 seconds in the third-fourth-place bout. Chamberlain was 3-1 on the day.
"Corey wrestled well on Saturday," McCalla said. "He moved well from the bottom and took advantage of his opponent's mistakes. I'm happy with Corey's wrestling right now. He still needs to continue working hard in the practice room."
Mitch Crawford placed fifth at 119 for the Dreadnaughts. He beat Northwest's Cory Chalecki 14-8 in the fifth-sixth-place match. Crawford ended up 2-2 for the tournament.
"Mitch was in a tough weight class today and did a good job in all his matches," McCalla said.
Also competing for Dexter and wrestling well at the meet were Zeb Klapperich, Brandon Saunders, Mark Bertsos, Brian Hubbard and Kyle Steiner.
Last Thursday, the host Dreadnaughts lost to state-ranked Temperance Bedford in a dual match 52-22.
"Our guys wrestled tough," McCalla said. "Bedford is a tough opponent and they have extremely skilled wrestlers throughout the entire line-up."
At 103, Flowers pinned Tom Fox in 1:33.
Marsh defeated Dale Hensly by a 15-1 major decision at 112.
The Mules' Tom Mayer defeated Crawford 4-3 at 119.
"That was the best match of the day," McCalla said. "Crawford and Mayer wrestled six high intensity minutes. Mayer took Crawford down a couple times, but in the third period Crawford reversed Mayer with only a few seconds left on the clock and almost scored back points as time ran out."
Klapperich pinned Mike Peck in 5:16 at 125.
At 130, Billy Osborne pinned Saunders in 1:56.
At 135, Dan Clarke pinned Dexter's Tommy Owens in 35 seconds.
Aaron Jefferies pinned Bertsos in 1:44 at 140.
Tony Alexander pinned Dreadnaught Larry Gunderson in 3:21 at 145.
Alex Ortman defeated Campbell on a 10-0 major decision at 152.
At 160, Pat Nusbaum pinned Hubbard in 3:20.
Kris Baker defeated Dexter's Scott Santoro 11-4 at 171.
Nick Whitenburg pinned Dreadnaught Jake Stacey in 3:24 at 189.
Alex Pavlika pinned Swager in 3:14 at 215.
Chamberlain pinned Mason Cole in 1:58 at heavyweight.
"Corey had to fight back after getting put to his back," McCalla said. "Corey did not give up after an early mistake. He had the intensity to reverse his opponent and then pin him as time was just about to expire."
Dexter next travels to Tecumseh for a match Thursday at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, the Dreadnaughts host their own invitational at 9 a.m.
On Feb. 1, Dexter visits Adrian for a match at 6 p.m.
