Hat trick powers Dexter

Dexter's prep hockey team defeated visiting Milford 5-2 last Thursday at the Arctic Coliseum in Chelsea.

The Dreadnaughts opened the scoring as Stan Baldus turned the light on at 14:49 of the first period giving Dexter a 1-0 early lead.
Less than a minute later, Donny Kennedy scored for Dexter off an assist from Jake Gillis for a 2-0 advantage.
Milford closed the gap to 2-1, scoring at 8:26 of the second period.
Three minutes later, the Dreadnaughts regained a two-goal lead as Charlie Shankland scored off an assist from Kennedy.
In the third period, Shankland scored at the 5:49 mark pushing Dexter's advantage to 4-1.
Forty-four second later, Shankland scored his third goal of the night for a hat trick giving the Dreads a 5-1 lead. Kennedy assisted on the play for Dexter.
Milford closed out the scoring with a goal at the 1:59 mark of the third period.
Milford out-shot Dexter 33-22 for the contest.
Earning the win in net for the Dreadnaughts was goaltender Tyler McCarthy.
Dexter next hosts Bloomfield Hills 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Arctic Coliseum.
On Friday, the Dreadnaughts travel to Orchard Lake St. Mary's for a game at 9 p.m.
On Sunday, Dexter hosts Jackson at noon at the Arctic Coliseum.
