Grapplers unbeaten at quad

Dexter wrestling finished 2-0 at the Carleton Airport quad Jan. 9.

The Dreadnaughts defeated Ida 40-31 and Riverview 38-36.
Against the Bluestreaks, Derek Fead won by void at 103 pounds for Dexter. Dan Flowers also won by void at 112 for the Dreadnaughts.
At 119, Bret Marsh beat Ida's Nick Smith by a 14-2 major decision.
Dexter's Mitch Crawford beat Garrett Rowell 6-4 at 125.
At 130, Brandon Saunders lost 9-1 to Ida's Matt Brooks. Dreadnaught Michael Richter won by void at 135.
Andrew Collins defeated Grant Heller 7-1 at 140 for Dexter. At 145, Dreadnaught Mark Bertsos won by void.
Dexter's Garrett Fischer lost by pin in 5:24 to Blair Tuller at 152. Steve Briggs lost by pin in 1:38 to the Bluestreaks' Justin VanderBlutch at 160.
At 171, Dreadnaught Nick Chaconas lost by pin in 1:46 to Justin Ryan.
At 189, Hunter Briggs lost by pin in 1:03 to Ida's Logan Rickheim.
Dexter's Mike Swager lost 2-0 to Tony Signorello at 215. Corey Chamberlain won by pin in 1:08 over Ida's Justin Heiserman at heavyweight.
"We lost to them earlier in this season in December," said Dexter coach Shane Rodriguez. "So it was good to come back and beat them."
Against Riverview, the match came down to one final bout. The Dreadnaughts needed a pin to win the match. Swager supplied the pinned against the Pirates' Nick Carnarvon in 3:22 at 215 to give Dexter the hard-earned victory.
"Riverview is a quality program," Rodriguez said. "They have some excellent wrestlers."
Rodriguez said Swager came up big when the Dreadnaughts needed it.
"Swager outwrestled their guy," he said. "Their guy was huge. Mike wrestled well."
At 103, Dexter's Tim Wilkerson lost an 8-5 decision to Kyle Renner.
Flowers pinned Jeff Czajka in 48 seconds at 112.
At 119, Marsh won by a 10-0 major decision over Justin Walls. Crawford won a 15-7 major decision over Steven Warrington at 125.
Dreadnaught Anthony Chisolm lost 6-0 to Robbie Luciani at 130.
Richter lost by pin in 1:45 to Mike Carnarvon at 135.
Collins won by pin in 20 seconds over John Decker at 140. Bertsos won by pin in 16 seconds over John Volguyl at 145.
Fischer lost by pin in 1:36 against Mike Tarbautten at 152.
Steve Briggs lost by pin in 33 seconds against Zach Ronin at 160.
Chaconas lost by pin to Jay Filkens in 3:10 at 171.
Hunter Briggs lost by pin in 12 seconds to Travis Beverly at 189.
At heavyweight, Chamberlain won by pin in 1:32 over Sam Agg.
Dexter next travels to Saline to participate in the tri-meet with Chelsea Thursday at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, the Dreadnaughts visit Hudson to compete in its invitational at 6 p.m.
On Jan. 26, Dexter hosts its own invitational at 8 a.m.
