The candidates are a mix of current officeholders and challengers.
They are Doug Fuller, supervisor; Nancy Hedberg, clerk; Donna Palmer, incumbent treasurer; Jim Dries, incumbent trustee; Christine Green, trustee; Tom Hanson, trustee; and Marty Mayo, trustee.
"The Team for Scio was organized on the belief that Scio residents deserve professionalism, civility and respect from their elected officials," Fuller said.
"Scio can only hope to maintain its natural beauty, high quality of life, and low taxes if its government officials work with each other and with the numerous other agencies that impact life in Scio."
Each member of the slate has experience in Scio Township affairs.
Fuller is a member of the Scio Planning Commission, the Zoning Board of Appeals, and serves on the Operating Committee for the Loch Alpine Sanitary Authority.
Hedberg sat on Scio Township's Planning Commission for 14 years, served as treasurer for the group during the passage of Proposal J in 2004, and has also served on the township's Board of Review since 1998.
Proposal J was passed by 75 percent of township residents. The proposal levies one-half of a mill or 50 cents per $1,000 of taxable value of each residence for land and open space preservation and parklands.
Palmer has been a resident of Scio most of her life and has served as Scio's Treasurer since 1987.
Dries has served as a Scio Trustee since November 2004, has been a member of the Washtenaw County Board of Public works since 1986, and has served on the Loch Alpine Sanitary Authority Board since 2005.
Green has been a member of the Scio Township Planning Commission since 2006, and currently serves as Secretary of the Planning Commission, Chair of the Zoning Ordinance Amendment Subcommittee, and as a member of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Review Subcommittee.
Hanson has served on the Scio Township Planning Commission for the past six years, and currently is Vice-Chair of the Planning Commission and Chair of the Master Plan Revision Subcommittee.
Mayo has been a member of the Scio Township Planning Commission for 11 years, three of those years as Chair, and currently serves on the Township's Sewer Services Advisory Committee and on the Scio Township Downtown Development Authority.
"I am delighted to be running with such a talented and experienced group of people," Fuller continued.
"Although the team comes from a wide variety of backgrounds and political leanings, this is a group that works well together and has the will and the skills needed to guide the Township through these challenging economic times."
