Warren Sterling entered the contest in first place in the Blue Conference Eastern Division.
Kevin Shankland, with two goals, along with Donny Kennedy and Jake Rochowiak scored for the Dreadnaughts.
Cody Lewandowski, Jake Gillis, Zeke Duke, Zhenya Yuhasz and Kennedy each picked an assist for Dexter.
Earning the win in net for the Dreadnaughts was goaltender Tyler McCarthy.
"The team has been improving every game," said Dexter coach Ryan Connolly. "We were just having problems completing all three periods. If the team gives everything they have for all three periods it doesn't matter if they win or lose, as long as they play the best they can.
"I was very proud of how the team played and how they reacted to being shorthanded most of the game."
Dexter next hosts St. Clair Shores Thursday at Chelsea's Arctic Coliseum.
