Dexter athletics make mark in SEC and state competitions

It was another memorable year for Dexter athletics in 2006.

The Dreadnaughts not only made their mark in the Southeastern Conference, but at the state level, as well.
Here's a look back:
Jan. 12 - Dexter's boys' basketball team lost to Northville 50-47 on a last second three-pointer in the final of the Dreadnaughts' Winter Tournament.
Jan. 12 - Dreadnaught hockey defeated Dearborn Heights Crestwood 8-5. Alex Johnston led Dexter with three goals for a hat trick.
Jan. 12 - Dexter volleyball advanced to the quarterfinals of the Saline Invitational before falling 25-21, 23-25, 15-12 to the host Hornets. Sarah Hornback paced the Dreadnaughts with 22 kills.
Jan. 19 - Junior middle blocker Camille Hanks finished with 22 kills and seven blocks leading Dexter volleyball to a third-place finish at the Tecumseh Invitational. The Dreadnaughts lost to Jackson in the semifinals 25-18, 17-25, 14-16.
Jan. 19 - Dexter's boys' swimming and diving team traveled to Toledo to take on Midwest powers Ann Arbor Pioneer and Toledo St. Francis. The Dreadnaughts lost to Pioneer 127-59 and to St. Francis 115-71. Placing first in the tri-meet for Dexter was diver Mike Eberbach and Kirk Kumbier in the 100 breaststroke.
Jan. 26 - Dreadnaught senior quarterback Jeff Ziegler was selected to play in the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game July 21 in Spartan Stadium on the campus of Michigan State University. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound signal-caller is Dexter's first player ever chosen to participate in the star-studded event.
Jan. 26 - The Dreadnaughts' boys' swimming and diving team defeated Adrian 125-59 in a dual meet. Junior Kirk Kumbier led Dexter winning the 100 and 200 freestyle.
Jan. 26 - Dreadnaught wrestlers Bret Marsh and Mitch Crawford finished first and fifth, respectively, at the Jackson Northwest Invitational. A sophomore, Marsh placed first at 103 pounds with a perfect 3-0 record. Crawford, a freshman, ended up with a 3-2 mark at 112.
Jan. 26 - Dexter's boys' basketball topped Southeastern Conference White Division foe Tecumseh 58-25. The Dreadnaughts (6-4, 3-2 SEC White) have won five of their last six ballgames. Senior center Rob Zalucki (6-foot-7) led Dexter with 10 points and six rebounds.
Feb. 2 - In front of approximately 2,200 spectators, the host Dreadnaughts lost to county rival Chelsea 56-46 in boys' basketball. The Bulldogs made 10 three-pointers to pull out the win. Senior Jeff Ziegler led Dexter with 28 points, including four triples.
Feb. 2 - Dreadnaught hockey defeated Waterford Kettering 5-2. Dexter scored three unanswered goals in the third period to secure its victory.
Feb. 9 - Dreadnaught boys' swimming and diving team beat Ypsilanti Lincoln 150-32 in a dual meet. With the win, Dexter's overall record is 3-4.
Feb. 9 - Behind four goals from Nick Field, Dexter hockey defeated Ypsilanti Lincoln 10-0. The Dreadnaughts scored four goals in the third period to put away the Railsplitters.
Feb. 16 - Dexter sophomore guard T.J. Fenske sank two free throws with 3.7 seconds left to win the game 52-50 over Ypsilanti Lincoln. Fenske finished with seven points for the Dreadnaughts.
Feb. 16 - Dexter's boys' swimming and diving team defeated rival Chelsea 98-88 in a dual meet. The Dreadnaughts celebrated Senior Night. Seniors competing in their last home meet for Dexter included Keith Bado, Casey Claflin, Mike Eberbach, David Guayasamin, Matt Mead and Marcel Trevisan.
Feb. 16 - Dexter wrestling finished third overall at the Southeastern Conference White Division meet with a total team score of 166.50 points. Winning league titles individually for the Dreadnaughts were Bret Marsh (103 pounds), Matt Bastion (119), Kyle Thompson (130), Mike Crawford (140) and Brian Weck (189).
Feb. 16 - Dreadnaught senior running back-defensive back Scott Chevalier (5-foot-8, 165 pounds) signed to play football at Saginaw Valley State University.
Feb. 23 - Alex Johnston's hat trick led Dexter hockey to a 4-3 win over Pinckney. With the victory, the Dreadnaughts' overall record stands at 9-9-2.
Feb. 23 - Dexter volleyball reached the semifinals of the Ypsilanti Invitational before losing 17-25, 18-25 to Pinckney. Senior outside hitter Jenny Strieter led the Dreadnaughts with 21 kills and nine aces.
Feb. 23 - Dexter wrestlers Bret Marsh (103 pounds), Matt Bastion (119), Kyle Thompson (130) and Mike Crawford (140) qualified for the Division II state regional meet.
March 2 - Dexter's boys' swimming and diving team captured its eighth consecutive Southeastern Conference White Division championship. The Dreadnaughts tallied 388 points to win the title. Earning All-SEC honors for Dexter were Casey Claflin (100 backstroke), Mike Eberbach (diving), Jason Haas (200 and 500 freestyle), Kirk Kumbier (200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke) and Matt Mead (50 freestyle).
March 2 - Dexter's boys' basketball defeated Tecumseh 49-31. Senior swing player Jeff Ziegler led the Dreadnaughts with 16 points and nine rebounds.
March 2 - Bret Marsh (103 pounds) and Mike Crawford (140) qualified for the Division II state wrestling meet. Marsh (44-1) finished first in his weight class, while Crawford (35-17) placed third at 140.
March 9 - Dexter hockey lost to rival Chelsea 3-2 in a Division III state pre-regional final. Juniors Alex Johnston and J.P. Ledwidge scored goals for the Dreadnaughts in the season-ending defeat.
March 9 - Dexter's boys' basketball lost to Chelsea 63-53 in the regular season finale. Rob Zalucki led the Dreadnaughts with 19 points.
March 9 - Dexter volleyball lost to Tecumseh 19-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-25 in a Class A state district final. Senior outside hitter Jenny Strieter led the Dreadnaughts with 13 kills.
March 9 - Dexter's Jeff Ziegler committed to play football at the University of Michigan as a preferred walk-on. The 6-foot-6, 210-pound senior quarterback ended the season with a school record 1,893 yards passing and 23 touchdowns.
March 9 - Dreadnaught senior Jenny Strieter committed to play volleyball at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
March 16 - Sophomore Bret Marsh placed second at 103 pounds in the Division II wrestling state meet at the Palace of Auburn Hills. Marsh (47-2) lost to Mason's Craig Eifert 6-4 in the final. Senior Mike Crawford (35-19) finished 0-2 at the state final in the 140-pound weight class.
March 16 - Dexter's boys' swimming and diving team finished 15th at the Division II state meet at Eastern Michigan University. Dreadnaught Mike Eberbach placed sixth in the one-meter diving competition with a score of 394.95 points. Kirk Kumbier finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.09 for Dexter.
March 16 - Dexter's boys' basketball team captured a Class A district title defeating Ann Arbor Pioneer 53-48. Dread seniors Jeff Ziegler with 18 points and Rob Zalucki with a double-double of 15 points and 17 rebounds led Dexter (14-9).
March 23 - Dreadnaught boys' basketball lost 56-48 to No. 1-ranked Okemos in a Class A state regional final at Lansing's Don Johnson Fieldhouse. Dexter (15-10) ended its season three wins shy of a state championship. Rob Zalucki paced the Dreadnaughts with 16 points and seven rebounds.
March 30 - Jeff Ziegler was named Dexter's boys' basketball MVP. The 6-foot-6 swing player finished with a team-high 13.5 scoring average, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
March 30 - Juniors Nick Field and J.P. Ledwidge were named co-MVP for Dexter hockey.
March 30 - Senior outside hitter Sarah Hornback (5-foot-9) was named Dreadnaught volleyball MVP.
April 6 - Dexter's girls' soccer team opened its season defeating Hartland 4-1 and Ann Arbor Greenhills 3-0. Caitlin Henderson scored three goals to lead the Dreadnaughts.
April 6 - Dreadnaught girls' water polo beat Ypsilanti 17-3. Jessie Boren led Dexter with three goals, two steals and one assist.
April 20 - Dexter track and field traveled south of the border participating in the Mehock Relays in Mansfield, Ohio. The Dreadnaught girls' squad placed 15th overall with 11 points, while the boys' team was 10th.
April 20 - Defending state champion Dexter opened its season defeating Ann Arbor Pioneer 183-185 in girls' golf. Senior Natalie Vandeven and junior Katelin Davis led the Dreads each shooting a 43.
April 20 - Dexter's boys' tennis team blanked Brooklyn Columbia Central 8-0. Sebastian Gerstner beat Adam McKay 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the Dreadnaughts.
April 20 - Dexter's Kaitlin McMurray signed with Marist College to play water polo.
April 27 - Dreadnaught baseball swept a doubleheader from Pinckney winning 10-0, 12-2. Dexter (6-4-1) has won four of its last six ballgames.
May 4 - Dexter's girls' track and field team placed second at the Mason Invitational. Amy Roberts led the Dreadnaughts finishing first in the 100 meters in 13.05 and first in the 400-meter run in 1:00.18.
May 4 - The Dreadnaughts' boys' track and field team finished second at the Mason Invitational. Scott Chevalier placed first in the 100 meters in 11.24, while Ryan Seagram was first in the 200 meters in 23.36 and Brad Whitehead first in the high jump clearing 6-foot, 6 ? inches for Dexter.
May 4 - Dexter's boys' tennis team defeated Jackson Northwest 5-3. The Dreads swept all four doubles flights for the victory.
May 11 - Dexter baseball split a doubleheader with perennial power Adrian losing 10-4 and winning 7-3. With the win, the Dreadnaughts improved their record to 10-7-2 overall.
May 11 - Dexter softball lost a doubleheader to Temperance Bedford 7-5, 13-1. The Dreads are 2-13 overall.
May 11 - Dexter's girls' golf team captured the Ann Arbor Greenhills Invitational with a score of 347. Dreadnaught Natalie Vandeven won the tournament individual title with an 83.
May 11 - The No. 6-ranked Dreadnaught girls' soccer team shut out Temperance Bedford 3-0. Earning the shutout in net for Dexter (10-1) was keeper Liz Umstead. The goose egg was Umstead's eighth of the season.
May 18 - Dexter senior Ally Melinsky signed to swim at Marshall University.
May 18 - The No. 10-ranked Dreadnaught girls' water polo team advanced to the state regional competition defeating Saline 8-6 and Mason 15-4 in district play.
May 25 - Dexter's girls' water polo team lost to Birmingham Groves 17-7 in the state regional competition ending its season. Dreadnaughts Kelsey Schultz and Kaitlin McMurray were named All-Region.
May 25 - The No. 2-ranked Dexter girls' golf team placed first at the regional match at Reddeman Golf Course in Chelsea. The regional crown was the Dreadnaughts' fourth consecutive championship. Katelin Davis led Dexter placing first individually with an 81.
June 1 - The No. 4-ranked Dexter's girls' soccer team captured its sixth straight SEC White Division title defeating Tecumseh 3-0. With the win, the Dreads concluded the regular season with a 16-1 overall record.
June 1 - Dexter's boys' and girls' track and field teams both finished second at the SEC White Division meet.
June 1 - The Dreadnaughts' boys' tennis team placed third at the Division III state regional match. Dexter also finished second at SEC White Division match.
June 8 - Dexter's girls' golf team finished second at the Division II state match at the Meadows Golf Course on the campus of Grand Valley State University. The Dreadnaughts ended up with a score of 676. Winning the state title was Birmingham Seaholm with a score of 675. Individually, Katelin Davis led Dexter placing sixth shooting a two-day 159 (80-79).
June 8 - The Dreadnaught girls' soccer team captured a Division II district title defeating Tecumseh 5-0 in the final and rival Chelsea 1-0 in a double-overtime semifinal win.
June 8 - Dexter's boys' track and field team finished 10th at the Division II state meet in Grand Rapids. Scott Chevalier placed second in the 100 meters with a time of 10.77, while Dan Jackson was second in the 3,200-meter run in 9:09.93 for the Dreadnaughts.
June 8 - Dexter's girls' track and field team placed 12th at the Division II state meet in Grand Rapids. Becca Pilkerton finished second in the pole vault clearing a school record 11 feet, 3 inches, while Amy Roberts placed fifth in the 400-meter run in a personal best time of 58.44 for the Dreadnaughts.
June 22 - Dexter's girls' soccer team lost to No. 1-ranked Bloomfield Hills Lahser 2-0 in the Division II state semifinals at North Farmington High School. The No. 3-ranked Dreadnaughts ended their season with an overall record of 21-2.
June 22 - Seniors Brad Whitehead, Scott Chevalier, Amy Roberts and Bailey Wandyg were named Dexter track and field MVPs.
June 22 - Senior Kaitlin McMurray was named MVP of Dexter's girls' water polo team. McMurray finished the year with 75 goals, 19 assists and 59 steals.
June 29 - Senior defender Sarah Lewis was selected Dexter's girls' soccer MVP. Sophomore midfielder Caitlin Henderson was named first-team All-State, while keeper Liz Umstead and midfielder Amanda Marsh were named second-team All-State for the Dreadnaughts.
July 27 - Dexter's Jeff Ziegler participated in the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association East-West All-Star Game at Spartan Stadium on the campus of Michigan State University. A quarterback, Ziegler finished 8-of-16 for a game-high 109 yards. The East defeated Ziegler's West squad 22-15.
Aug. 17 - Dexter's Brandon Schlei, 13, finished 14th overall in the nation at the Speedo Junior National Diving Championship in Indianapolis. Schlei ended up with a score of 201.2 points.
Aug. 31 - Dexter football opened its season defeating Melvindale 43-39. Senior quarterback Johnny Benjamin led the Dreadnaughts finishing 15-of-23 for 210 yards and two touchdowns.
Sept. 7 - Dexter's boys' soccer team defeated Tecumseh 4-1. With the win, the Dreadnaughts remained unbeaten on the young season with a 3-0 overall record.
Sept. 14 - The No. 1-ranked Dreadnaught boys' cross country team finished first at the Tortoise and Hare Invitational at Hudson Mills Metropark. Junior Bobby Aprill placed first overall for Dexter with a time of 15:55.
Sept. 14 - The No. 2-ranked Dexter's girls' swimming and diving team defeated Milan 107-79 and Monroe 111-75 in a tri-meet to open its season.
Sept. 14 - The Dreadnaught girls' basketball team defeated Ann Arbor Pioneer 39-35. Senior guard Chantel Jennings led Dexter with 17 points.
Sept. 14 - Dexter's girls' cross country team captured the Tortoise and Hare Invitational at Hudson Mills Metropark. Jessie Vickers placed third overall to lead the Dreadnaughts.
Sept. 21 - Dexter's girls' basketball defeated Temperance Bedford 58-51 in double overtime. Dreadnaught senior Heather Bradshaw nailed a jumper at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.
Sept. 21 - The Dreadnaught boys' soccer team blanked Ypsilanti Lincoln 3-0. State-ranked Dexter improved its overall record to a still unblemished 8-0.
Sept. 21 - Dexter's equestrian team placed fourth in both the A and B Divisions to open its season at Belleville.
Sept. 28 - The No. 1-ranked Dreadnaught girls' swimming and diving team defeated Brighton 124.5-61.5 and Temperance Bedford 121-65. Dexter senior Adrienne Woods led the Dreads placing first in the 500 freestyle in a school record 4:58.84.
Sept. 28 - Dexter's boys' soccer team suffered its first losses of the season dropping identical 1-0 games to Saline and Ann Arbor Pioneer.
Sept. 28 - Dexter football improved to 2-1 on the year defeating Tecumseh 45-21. The Dreadnaughts finished with 455 total yards of offense.
Sept. 28 - The Dreadnaught boys' water polo team beat Troy Athens 13-4 and Saline 11-4. Johno Wilson led Dexter scoring five goals.
Oct. 5 - The state Division II No. 1-ranked Dexter girls' swimming and diving team lost to Division I No. 1-ranked Ann Arbor Pioneer 119-67 in a dual meet.
Oct. 5 - Dexter's No. 6-ranked girls' cross country team captured the Chelsea Invitational. Jessie Vickers, Melany Mioduszewski and Ellen Riehle paced the Dreadnaughts.
Oct. 5 - Heather Bradshaw's career-high 22 points led Dexter's girls' basketball team to a 54-43 victory over Saline.
Oct. 5 - Dexter's boys' golf team finished first at the Southeastern Conference White Division quad at Reddeman Farms Golf Course. Don Knight and Jordan Marken led the Dreads each shooting a 36.
Oct. 5 - The Dreadnaughts' girls' tennis team lost to Chelsea 7-1. Krystyn Taheri defeated Liz Hood 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 singles for Dexter's lone win.
Oct. 12 - Dexter football lost to rival and state Division III No. 3-ranked Chelsea 33-29. The Bulldogs scored on a 20-yard touchdown pass with nine seconds left to pull out the victory.
Oct. 12 - No. 1-ranked Dexter boys' cross country team placed first with 62 points at the Portage Invitational. Junior Bobby Aprill led the Dreads finishing first overall with a school record clocking of 15:15.
Oct. 12 - The Dreadnaught girls' tennis team placed second at the SEC White Division tournament. Krystyna Taheri finished first at No. 1 singles to spark Dexter.
Oct. 12 - Dexter's boys' soccer team defeated Ann Arbor Greenhills 5-2. With the victory, the Dreadnaughts improved their record to 13-2. In its past three games, Dexter has outscored its opponents 16-2.
Oct. 12 - The Dreadnaughts' girls' basketball team beat Ypsilanti Lincoln 47-40. Chantel Jennings led Dexter with 20 points.
Oct. 19 - Dexter's boys' cross country team finished first with a perfect score of 15 points at the Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard Invitational. Bobby Aprill led the Dreadnaught placing first overall in a course record 15:52.
Oct. 19 - The Dreadnaught equestrian team competed in state district competition. The Dexter A team finished fifth in its district with 54 points. The Dreadnaught B squad was second in its district with 176 points.
Oct. 19 - Dexter's girls' cross country team finished first at the Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard Invitational with 35 points.
Oct. 26 - Dexter's boys' soccer team captured a Division II state district title defeating Chelsea 2-0 for the crown. Ryan LeMasters and Peter Jebson each scored one goal for the Dreadnaughts.
Oct. 26 - The Dreadnaught boys' cross country team finished first at the SEC Jamboree No. 3 with a perfect score of 15 points. The perfect score was No. 1-ranked Dexter's third straight. Bobby Aprill placed first individually in 15:32, while teammate Dan Jackson was second in 15:35.
Oct. 26 - Dexter football defeated Ypsilanti Willow Run 62-22 to conclude its season with a Homecoming victory over the Flyers. Senior quarterback Johnny Benjamin led the Dreadnaughts (4-5) finishing 11-of-18 for 155 yards passing with five touchdowns.
Oct. 26 - The Dreadnaught boys' water polo team advanced to the state regional tournament beating Holt 10-4.
Nov. 2 - Dexter's boys' soccer team defeated Holland Christian 1-0 to win a Division II state regional championship. Ross Seagram scored the game-winning goal on a header 20 minutes into the second half. With the victory, the Dreadnaughts advanced to the state semifinals.
Nov. 2 - The Dreadnaughts' boys' cross country team finished first at the Division II regional meet with a perfect score of 15 points. Ranked No. 1 not only in the state, but also in the Midwest, Dexter placed 1-2-3-4-5 to earn the regional title.
Nov. 2 - Dexter's girls' cross country team captured a Division II regional championship with a score of 53 points. Melany Mioduszewski, Jessie Vickers, Remme Cortright, Kristen Yarows and Ellen Riehle were named All-Region for the Dreadnaughts.
Nov. 2 - Dexter's boys' water polo team placed seventh at the state East Regional concluding its season.
Nov. 2 - The Dreadnaught girls' swimming and diving team beat Chelsea 122-63 wrapping up its dual meet season.
Nov. 9 - Dexter's boys' cross country team won its fifth straight Division II state championship, besting the field with a Division II state record score of 28 points. Individually, junior Bobby Aprill nipped senior teammate Dan Jackson for the title stopping the clock in a state record time of 15:15.1. Jackson was second in 15:15.7. The Dreadnaughts ended the season ranked No. 4 in the nation.
Nov. 9 - Dexter's boys' soccer team defeated East Lansing 1-0 in a shootout to capture a Division II state championship. The title is the Dreadnaughts' first ever in boys' soccer. Senior keeper Rob Kuzon recorded the shutout in net for Dexter. The Dreadnaughts finished with a 19-3-2 overall mark.
Nov. 9 - The Dreadnaught girls' cross country team placed fifth overall at the Division II state meet at Michigan International Speedway. Dexter ended up with a tally of 249 points. Senior Jessie Vickers paced the Dreadnaughts crossing the line 20th with a personal best time of 19:00.4.
Nov. 9 - Former Dexter and University of Michigan standout Jennie Ritter was selected for the 18-player U.S.A. softball national team. Ritter, who led the Wolverines to a national championship as a collegian, is one of five pitchers on the U.S. squad.
Nov. 9 - Dexter's girls' swimming and diving team captured its ninth consecutive SEC White Division title. The Dreadnaughts finished with 481 points claiming the league crown.
Nov. 16 - Johnny Benjamin was named Dexter football MVP. Benjamin ended the year throwing for 1,804 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Nov. 23 - The Dreadnaught girls' swimming and diving team placed second at the Division II state meet. Dexter has finished state runner-up seven out of the past eight years. Senior Adrienne Woods led the Dreadnaughts placing first with state record times in the 100 freestyle in 50.39 and 200 freestyle in 1:49.57. She also anchored the first-place finishing 200 freestyle relay in a state record 1:37.47.
Nov. 23 - Senior Dan Jackson, junior Bobby Aprill and sophomore Jason Bishop were named to the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association boys' cross country Dream Team. The squad is comprised of the seven fastest runners in the state regardless of division. The Dreadnaughts are the first team to ever place three runners on the elite team.
Nov. 23 - Dexter's girls' basketball team lost to Ann Arbor Pioneer 48-23 in a first round Class A district match up. Senior guard Chantel Jennings paced the Dreadnaughts (11-10) with eight points.
Nov. 23 - Elizabeth Corich received the Most Valuable Rider Award for Dexter equestrian.
Nov. 23 - Dexter's Jaime Dudash was named the Division II cross country Coach of the Year. Dudash helped lead the Dreadnaughts to their fifth consecutive state championship.
Nov. 30 - Dexter junior forwards Ross Seagram and Peter Jebson were named to the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Division II first-team All-State team. Senior keeper Rob Kuzon was named second-team All-State, while senior defender James Nati was selected to the Division II All-State third team.
Nov. 30 - Dreadnaught senior Kirk Kumbier was named boys' water polo MVP.
Dec. 7 - Dexter wrestling opened its season finishing 2-3 overall at the Brooklyn Columbia Central Tournament. Individually, junior Bret Marsh led the Dreadnaughts ending up 5-0 in the 112-pound weight class.
Dec. 14 - Dreadnaught hockey remained unbeaten defeating Pinckney 4-3. With the win, Dexter's overall record is an unblemished 7-0.
Dec. 14 - Dexter senior Adrienne Woods signed to continue her swimming career at the University of Texas.
Dec. 14 - Dexter's dance team made school history as it placed second in the varsity competition and first in the JV event at the two-day Universal Dance Association Great Lakes Invitational. The overall finishes by both Dreadnaught teams was the highest Dexter has ever placed in a competition.
Dec. 14 - Junior T.J. Fenske's 19 points helped lead Dexter's boys' basketball team to a season-opening 60-26 victory over Monroe Jefferson.
Dec. 14 - Dexter's Connor Metevier captured a state championship in the boys' 14- through 15-year-old division Punt, Pass and Kick competition at Detroit's Ford Field. The state title was the second in a row for Metevier, as he won the 12- through 13-year-old boys' division title last year.
Dec. 21 - Dexter volleyball won the Bronze Division at the Livonia Stevenson Invitational. Senior Camille Hanks sparked the Dreadnaughts with 21 kills, seven blocks and seven aces.
Dec. 21 - The Dreadnaught wrestling team finished first at the Lansing Waverly Invitational. Bret Marsh (112 pounds), Michael Campbell (160) and Corey Chamberlain (heavyweight) earned individual titles for Dexter.
Dec. 21 - Dexter's boys' swimming and diving team defeated Milan 107-78 to open its dual meet season. Danny Rion placed first in the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke to help lead the Dreadnaughts to victory.
