Judy Lynn Doll

Formerly of Chelsea

Judy Lynn Doll of Ann Arbor died unexpectedly in her sleep, Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007. She was 52.

She was born March 9, 1955 in Detroit, the daughter of Jean (Dexter) and Albert E. Doll Jr.

Judy grew up in the U.P. She had lived in Ann Arbor for a year, and Chelsea for eight years. Judy worked for U of M Hospital in the psychiatry department. She enjoyed her children and being outdoors. Judy was a 20 year survivor of leukemia and had a kidney transplant.

She is survived by her fiancÈ, Ron Bembeneck of Ann Arbor. Other survivors include her mother, Jean Doll of Westland, two children, Matthew Doll of Ypsilanti and Chelsea Fernstrum of Ann Arbor; 4 brothers, David (Kathy) of Hancock, Mich., Doug of Clinton Twp., John (Janet) of Clinton Twp., Tom "Ticker" of Monroe; a sister, Susan Houle of Hancock; step-daughters, Erin Bembeneck of Whitmore Lake, Leslie (Jared) Wacker of Chelsea; a step-granddaughter, Elisabeth Wacker; several nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Doll in 1973.

Funeral services were held Dec. 29 at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with Deacon Richard Shaneyfelt officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Susan M. Starkey

Chelsea

Susan M. Starkey of Chelsea passed away on Dec. 24 at her home in Chelsea, surrounded by her loving family. She was 60.

Sue was born Sept. 10, 1947, the daughter of Robert and Marilyn (Schlegel) Kansorka. Born and raised in Toledo, Sue graduated from Toledo Waite High School in 1965. She attended Bowling Green State University, receiving her Bachelor Of Arts Degree in Elementary Education in 1970. On Aug. 24, 1968 she married Stanley R. Starkey. Throughout their marriage she was an elementary teacher in several states including Ohio, Florida as well as in Chelsea. Sue and Stan moved their family to Chelsea in 1977, and she became an active leader in the Chelsea Community. She had a way of reaching out to people with enthusiasm and passion. If there was a committee, Sue was on it. She was a member and former executive director of the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce, a board member of the St. Louis School, a member of the Chelsea Hospital Auxiliary in which she participated in several of their fundraising Gala Events, as well a board member of the Chelsea Education Foundation.

Most importantly, and the center of her life, were her children and grandchildren. She loved watching her kids and grandkids at sporting events, and was sure to be on the sidelines rain or shine. Sue was a true inspiration to those who knew her during her nearly four year battle with pancreatic cancer. She faced her illness with unparalleled dignity, grace and courage. She will be missed, but never forgotten by those whose lives she impacted so dramatically.

Sue is survived by her husband, Stan, of 39 years, her two sons Todd (Beth) Starkey of Chelsea, and Chad (Mara) Starkey of California; six grandchildren: Tanner, Cameron, Quinn, Jack, Sarah, and Will; her mother-in-law Maryellen Starkey of Northwood, Ohio; as well as two brothers, Robert Kansorka of Oregon, Ohio and Dennis (fiancÈ Karen) Kansorka of Woodville, Ohio; She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Drew Starkey, and her father-in-law Stanley E. Starkey.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at St. Mary Catholic Church with, Rev. David L. Lane, Rev. Dr. William J. Turner, and Rev. Fr. Joseph Renaldo co-officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Louis Center "Dress the Children Fund," or the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Bo Boshaw

Formerly of Dexter

Douglas Roy "Bo" Boshaw, of Webb City, Mo., passed away at 3:48 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2007 at Freeman Hospital. He was 60.

Born Sept. 28, 1947 in Ann Arbor, he was the son of the late Charles G. Boshaw and Caroline I. Haber Boshaw. He had lived in the Joplin area since 1984, having previously lived in Idaho, Utah, North Carolina, Thailand and Michigan. In 1965 he graduated from Dexter High School. He served 20 years in The U.S. Army, retiring as a Master Sergeant, which included three tours of duty in Asia and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was employed 15 years with Economic Security Corp., serving as assistant director of the Head Start program. He loved providing entertainment through his D.J. and Karaoke business, was active in the Webb City Elkís Lodge and was a life member of the V.F.W. He loved hunting and fishing and was a proud grandfather.

On Jan. 26, 1983 he married Caren F. LeBar at Boise, Idaho. She survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Allen Boshaw and wife Nicci of Nampa, Idaho; daughter Renee Flower and husband Jeff of Emmett, Idaho; daughter, Kris LeBar of Nampa; son, Charlie LeBar and wife LeAnn of Meridian, Idaho; grandchildren, Chynna, Brie, Emillio, Saven, Icesis, Logan, Taylor, Makenzie and Kyle all of Idaho; sisters, Maryann Alstrom and husband Dave of Grass Lake, Geri Ritchie and husband Jim of Pinckney; brother-in-law, Bruce Patton of Duncan, Ariz.; nieces and nephews, Tammy Diable, Tim Wood, Graydon Ellis, Cheri Terry, Mark and Marty Ritchie, Jill Storm, all of Michigan, Zach and Josh Patton, both of Arizona.

Although his life was ended too soon, he touched many hearts and will be missed dearly. He is now fishing with Grandma & Grandpa Bo.

Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 28 at Parker Mortuary with interment at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charitable fund at Economic Security Corp., the local community action agency, in care of the mortuary.

Fred J. Eassa

Stuart, Fla.

Fred J. Eassa of Stuart, Fla., passed away at his home on Dec. 18, 2007. He was 66.

He was born June 29, 1941 in Haifa, Palestine, the son of Joseph A. and Mary (Matta) Eassa. He came to the United States in 1951 with his mother and his brother, Habie J. (Bill) Eassa, eventually settling in Pittsburgh. Fred graduated from Mt. L.H.S. in 1959, where he held the Pennsylvania High School state pole vault record for three years. He served for six years in the U.S. Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. He then returned to Pittsburgh and attended the University of Pittsburgh for two years. He moved to Royal Oak in the mid 70ís where he owned an electrical supply company, Peninsular Wire and Cable Co. In the late 70ís he moved to Las Vegas, then Roswell, New Mexico where he, along with his brother, developed an ore refinery. Following the death of his brother, Fred became a commodities broker, working on numerous domestic and international endeavors. At the time of his death, Fred was a resident of Stuart, Fla. He enjoyed business, sports and boating. He loved his family and always enjoyed visiting his brother, Bill, and his family in Chelsea.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, in Palestine, his mother, Mary, and his beloved brother, Bill. He is survived by one daughter, Kristin, a niece, Beth Eassa, nephews Joseph and Philip (Tricia) Eassa, and great-nephew, Samuel Eassa, and great-niece, Molly Eassa.

The family received friends at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home on Sunday. Interment was Monday, Dec. 24, 2007 at Oak Grove East Cemetery, Chelsea. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Judeís Childrenís Hospital.

Roy A. Guenther

Formerly of Chelsea

Roy A. Guenther of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Dec. 19, 2007. He was 78.

He was born June 30, 1929 in Chelsea. Roy and his wife, Gwen, moved to Port Charlotte, Fla. in 1983 from Chelsea. He served in the 185th Engineering Battalion 3rd Div. 77th Regiment in Korea and was awarded the Korean Service Metal. He was a heavy equipment operator and foreman at the Chelsea Chrysler Proving Grounds for 32 years. He was the captain of the Auxiliary Police Dept. from 1957 to 1981 for the village of Chelsea, and a deputy sheriff for Washtenaw County.

Roy will be dearly missed by his wife of 51 years, Gwen; sons, Greg (Shari) and Todd (Kim); 4 brothers; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and his dog, Charlie.

No services are planned. Send donations in Royís name to TideWell Hospice and Palliative Care 5455 Rand Blvd. Sarasota, FL 34238. Arrangements are made by National Cremation Society of Port Charlotte, Fla.

The Guenther family appreciates the Charlotte Harbor Care Center and Fawcett Memorial Hospital for their care.
